Hi, what do we do with our Black Berry devices acclaimed to be older version thus no whatsapp etc application? Many Basic Handset cell phones still have access to all such basics. Am prepared to pay for services as it's easy to use my BlackBerry more than any other devices, please advice as some colleagues of mine are in similar frustrating state. Handsets selling for less than $10(US) are used for all operations yet there are so many blockages or discontinued services. Please offer us lasting solutions, thanks.

Android, IOS(apple/mac), Sailfish, Ubuntu, Tizen(samaung), Blackberry, and Windows. Actually there are 3 others but they no longer are supported[palm, amazon & firefox]. That being said, BlackBerry 10 os is the best hands down. If Ubuntu were global it would be awesome and the same can be said for Tizen. If Palm would have continued it would have the crown. As far as phones go, IOS rules the day with Android phones from uncommon companies like Meizu having a great shot at the title.

QNX is a wonderful and lightweight OS with a micro kernel. It is so powerful to govern any electronic device. I hope Mr. JC will release a version of QNX for free. I also wish if he could license the BB HUB for other cellphone manufactures when they select this Free QNX on their devices. I bet You wont see any other phone within next 2 years time. No doubt at all. He may tie up with Nokia for doing this as they can release QNX based handsets.

BB should focus on their OS more so that it can run android applications as well. More tutorials should be released on QNX to make developers to give a try with it. QNX is capable of doing wonders. It will be a good OS for many instrumentation purposes. After all, if your phone can sync with your car seamlessly and think about sending a reminder on your cell phone if the fuel is low, next service date, oil or if any part needs attention.. well imagination is wild..

To day I did a Skype call from my BB Passport with Skype for Android which was downloaded and installed from Amazon. I wished if BB could buy Nokia and definitely they could have been turned it around. These two are two superb products for common cell phone users.

I bought Q10, used for three successful years, then I bought Passport. I'm not ready to leave BlackBerry.. because it WAS NEVER BEEN DOWN AFTER A VIRUS ATTACK, CRASHED SYSTEM.. OR such a problem, that many of my friends face on OTHER HANDSETS, I hope for the best and pray for the least... Stay blessed.. all blackberry users.. I seldom surrender..

The software experience is nowhere near as good as BB10 but it still has many of the elements BB is famous for. The Hub is weak but there is nothing that even comes close to it on Android. Prices have plummeted for the Priv. If you take the time to shop, you'll find the prices lower than the cost of a new Passport SE. Best of luck to you!

Anonymous, 04 Jul 2016man just 1 one thing i wanna know is i am planning to buy B... moreOf course they have whatsapp and other essential apps. I'd had Q10 for almost 2 years, until I sold it and changed to an Android. My experience was that OS10 devices are actually a pretty stable devices. BUT, as you might have worried, there might be some apps that you're grown to accustomed, to not be available in the platform. I'd say, it's only good as a secondary phone, or a dedicated 'work' phone if you wish, since the blackberry hub is still the feature I missed until now in other OS. Their devices tend to don't have a good battery though. However, if your basic use of a smartphone doesn't involve installing too many gimmick apps, they're quite alright if you could get them at low enough prices.

Anonymous, 04 Jul 2016man just 1 one thing i wanna know is i am planning to buy B... moreIf you are a fan of blackberry then go ahead otherwise I would like to say NO. Don't get me wrong, it's a great device but no apps. You can Install android apps in it but it's not smooth... I have two phones one of them android my play phone. Second one is what I always change to check out new phones. My point is if you have two phones then ok if you get it cheap.. Good luck.

It however allows you to go into personalization and change it around how you see fit. There are lots of different great designs people have made. It's really one of those OS's that lets you personalize everything out of the box and it becomes unique to your needs. Problem is MS doesn't do a good job educating people on it. The OS has so many cool features that even people using it for a while don't know about. All this could be solved with little bubble tips like they did for their navbar.

Similar kind of comments were made by Blackberry about BB OS7 when they launched OS10.

Rather they went ahead and said that they would keep OS7 devices for lower and Mid-range whereas OS10 devices will be flagships for the company.

No wonder, they did not release any new OS7 device after launching OS10 and later was shut down in no time.

I also updated my 730 to Windows 10 when I had it 6 months back but it wasn't like this. Those squares in home page wasn't nice to see. I hope they finally realized it...

Xz8441, 03 Jul 2016Come spring 2017 (if like what you mentioned), they will la... moreWell the actual rumored spec is an SD830 that also has custom on-chip solution for something. They have been working with Qualcomm on something but they are good at being tight lipped. They only leak what they want to leak. Surface book was a huge surprise and how they managed to keep it a secret is just amazing.

Fan boys will definitely like anything they release, but every brand has fan boys. And that's good for the brand. But general consumers get what is best for them. I'm a fan of the OS no doubt and its current shortcomings don't affect me. A lot of my friends were impressed with my 950xl and even wanted to buy them but I pretty much flat out told them not to because it's just not ready for average consumers. To me the continuum features and having a large screen on my fave OS is enough. And my expectations were not so high but i'm surprised with how much better it has gotten with the insider builds that will become anniversary edition. And what I'm most surprised about is this sudden flood of apps coming in. I like to play around with multiple os's and I originally got the lumia 520 because it was so dirt cheap I could play around with windows. Windows 8/8.1 didn't really do it for me and the apps were horrible. I did end up getting a lumia 830 because I loved the look of the phone and camera and it was pretty cheap. And I used it for insider builds to see how things are going. Once windows 10 came out I loved it so much I bought an expensive phone which is the 950xl. It was really rocky at first haha. The insider builds are still not exactly perfect but I like what I see. It's my main phone now but I use my iphone 6 just to test new apps to see what's out there. I probably won't upgrade to an iphone 7. In 2017 I think tech will change enough that I'll want an upgrade but it will likely be expensive so ill only be able to get 1 of the brands. iphone 8, Samsung foldable phone or whatever MS releases. So i'll see what's good then. Samsung foldable is the most intriguing to me thus far. But it's also the only thing that really has leaked rumors.
