SD821 should run at 1.6MHz and 2.4MHz. Running the slower speed at 1.8MHz or 2MHz is too close to full speed. The lower speed is for a long battery life. I wouldn't have a problem with 1.2MHz and 2.4MHz. Double the speed when you need the power!

Throttling on the very quickly results in the shutting down of the A57 cores. That leaves you with 4×A53 @ a max of 1.44ghz vs 4× krait 400 @ a max of 2.7ghz.
I think the numbers will show an advantage to the 805 there, and thats what anandtech were trying to say.

I have said it before and I'll say it again, having to include such measures as Heatpipes in a mobile device is usually a sure sign something is not right.
Or in Anandtech's words:
"having a heat-pipe thermal dissipation system is a quite worrying characteristic of the phone and should in no way be seen as a positive feature as it points to high power draw figures on the part of the SoC."
Thats Anandtech talking about the Galaxy S7 and its one heatpipe, the Z5/Z6P both have two, so what do you think that's telling us.......
The 810 was a disaster, there's no denying it.

With regards CPU speed though, any advantage the 808 and even the 810 have over the 805 is short lived at best, this is an excerpt for the Anandtech's Nexus 5X review:
"In this case I think it's pretty clear that any sustained workload lasting longer than 2 minutes is going to be substantially faster on a Snapdragon 805 device, and truthfully if your workload takes advantage of multiple cores it's likely that Snapdragon 805 will always be faster even within those first two minutes where Snapdragon 808's A57s are at their peak frequencies. I wouldn't want to say anything for certain, but this is probably true for Snapdragon 801 as well."

AnonD-479319, 12 Jul 2016810 was a joke...i wonder how higher clocks will treat the ... moreI've been wondering the same, as far as I can tell there's no architectural improvements being implemented here to offset the larger power draw associated with higher clock speeds.
And some of those speeds have seen quite a bump up, ok the gpu is only 26mhz faster. On the cpu side however its gone up 200mhz for the two 'big' Kryo cores, and 400mhz for the two 'LITTLE' cores.
That's got to take its toll in some way.

Qualcomm should make chipsets that work and not overheat like in 15min! Let's hope their future chipsets are better in temperature, performance management!

Not saying there's not ample room for improvement though

The problem is the 808 had no real benefits over say the 805, actually for sustainable performance the 805 (and 801 to some degree) were actually better.
