Alleged Apple A10 chip pops up on Geekbench

14 July, 2016
Single core performance seems to be up to par with the A9x and industry sources suggest it is a dual-core chip.

In f... moredifferent anon , but the moment you get into the 10nm range its a long way away for anything but r and d purposes. due to the photolithography. they have a few photolithography machines capable of it, i think 6 right now in the world. used if im not mistaken tin droplets hit with laser to produce the UV required , but the output is so low right now it is not feasable to actually produce a part with it.

In fact it cannot realistically be a responce to me as it doesn't address anything.

I can try and reach a little and figure your are infering that the a10 variant coming to market first will be dual core?
Or maybe your comment has to do with awaiting 10nm fabs.
Scheduled for end of next year... i have issues believing that Apple will have achieved a six year in a row of shrinking fabs when the industry standard has typically been two years (between shrinks).. they have had tremendous success until now and I do hope they can continue it.. but I wouldn't bank on it.
True 10 nm is awhile away yet...

        Enjoy your wait.
In the meantime Apple keep nailing performance per watt and have a highly optimised OS running on custom hardware built to their exacting specifications.

Initial talks of the A10 (last year) suggested it would be a six core.
If each core can match one from the A9X; these CPUs could power Macbooks easy as!

Apple make more CPUs per annum than Intel. This is huge...

s, 14 Jul 2016Fail Not if they are getting A9x performance at reduced manufacturing cost, which appears to be the aim to a certain extent.

Not sure if this fab/architecture allows for multiple chips, suggesting 'A10X' might not truly exist (perhaps being 2x A10)...

All the same the A9X is a beast but very costly to produce..

That means they also need to double the battery capacity in order to optimize the hardware. But we're talking real here. Apple won't do that anytime soon.

Anonymous, 14 Jul 2016imagine intel+apple, not arm processors, just imagineThat would be silly. Intel has far worse performance per watt. They are on theIR way down, desktop cpus are stagnated and they will possibly lose the server market they way they are going.

Why are there still fans of monopolistic, "crony capitalistic" companies like Intel is beyond me.

i have galaxy a9 and note 4... and as an android user.. i really like apple cpu's.. they do really optimize their OS and hardware and get awesome results in performance.. where as android gets octa core cpu's or quad or hexa core cpu's but still behing apple in some or the other way.. i would really like to have apple phones if they had MTP (like samsung and other android fones have.. plug and play storage).. amoled displays..and ofcourse..itunes free media and doc's transfering... dual sim and micro sd slot.. which i guess never gonna happen :-P... but.. ofcourse samsung and other fones do have many advantages..

Then imagined it with also a 1080p display, it fell by 20 more. So the result? Roughly 35 h endurance rating with gsmarena method. (Iphone 6s insurance is around 66h ). Now doubled the battery. Endurance was same nearly 66-70h but fruit fon got 12 mm thick.

Pre-launch leaks benchmark already hit 3000 on single core for A10 chip and if it's launch I am sure the chip will be more optimise and now imagine the multi core score! You no need eight or ten core to make your phone powerful and fast when you make the dual core cpu so stable and fast that it match those with multicore.

Apple always does well in Q3 and Q4 sales, but Q1 and Q2 sales are typically slow. I'd say there are other companies who are more desperate for a win in the mobile space, such as Sony and LG.
