Froyo for Samsung Galaxy S Hits UAE !!
Updated mine on this Christmas morning. But really struggled and managed to update the firmware after 4 attempts. Speed is just fine !!

for eg i cant set a personalised ringtone for a single contact..
it says contact saved but the rigtone is the default one..
plus it takes ages to load after a restart and also i lost almost all my live wallpapers..
there isnt sumthin other than the flash(which isnt great) and apps2sd(i dont have an sd so no use) that is better..
i hope gingerbread is a bigger leap..
but thanks for your help and this is for people who want to upgrade..

You need to upgrade your kies to the latest version.. do that through settings on the bottom right button.
Only after dis you can upgrade the firmware to 2.2 froyo .. :)

i just connected my device through kies,clicked on firmware update and it says it cannot be upgraded..
i have the stock 2.1 eclair..
am i doing anything wrong!!!???

spoke with Orange UK my provider :( and they say we will not see the update until atleast january.
Can any one get a straight answer from samsung or the providers this is really bad it obivsly works so realease and let us feedback if the are any problems

Just talked to customer care for froyo updates, they said updates are not available for india at this moment, it will come soon, but when, they didnt answer that.

I just downloaded the 2.2. But when Kies started the Upgrade of the firmware, it stoped and said: Firmware cannot update, firmware will close. ...
It migth just be a problem with my computer, but since i read that the upgrade is delayed, it may have something to do with it, but all though, i am from Norway, and i have not found any delay messages about the upgrade.

Well I have switched from iphone to galaxy but delay has
disappointed me a lot. I hope attest by October we get update is any one aware of exect date?

It is very bad. It is not nice to postphone the promissed update in time. It seems all other brands of Android phones received the Android 2.2 update. Samsung releasing its Tablet with Android 2.2. I do not know why this delay. Atleast Samsung should explain. I hope there is some sort of fine, if the promissed software updates are not kept.
