Unlimited Verizon subscribers who use "extraordinary" amount of data will be given an ultimatum

20 July, 2016
Samsung's latest batch of smart fitness accessories - the Gear Fit 2 and Gear IconX are still fresh on the market. And while the second generation smartband doesn't really need an introduction at this point, the Gear IconX could probably use one. Now retailing on six markets outside Korea and counting it seems like a good idea to explain to prospective buyers exactly what the EUR 230 headphones can offer.

Almost every single EU country has true unlimited data, f.ex. here in Finland you can get 4G cellular plan with 100mb speed and true unlimited calls, texts and data for 20euro a month. It's just US, AU, Can and other 3rd world countries that have the problem ;)

they should open a dictionary and look for definition of the word ulimited

they could just add a bandwidth cap...unlimited data is probably the only thing that keeps those users with those ISPs....

Wonder how many customers VZW could/will potentially lose in the upcoming months? Seems they are willing to cut their losses if they lose folks, because either way they are paying for the data they could be charging for...

They used to give 12GB then as speed increases people are torrenting tons of movies so they drop it to 2GB and only lately that there could be a 4th carrier coming in with unlimited data that the existing 3 carriers is starting to give more again but still far from the 12GB we have. But with the HD contents we have today, how is 2GB enough?

"If they choose not to do so"

LOL! 50 gigs of data isn't much at all considering this is 2016 and the minimum accepted movie you can stream/download is 720p or something. The limit should be at least 250 gigs or something, I don't care, but 50 gigs is a joke.

RainX, 21 Jul 2016Please Correct me if I am Wrong... I Believe what Verizo... moreI think those unlimited data did exist long time before (thus, article mentioned "grandfathered plan"), probably during "128kbps" 3G era, with existence of nokia N70, or those business model.. Even with this unlimited plan, running at 128kbps all day and night for whole month, their usage might not even reach 5gb/month, so it's acceptable for Verizon. but somehow all these customers remained at this plan until now, hence their status of unlimited data plan remained, and they could use massive amount of GBs per month, which Verizon now thinks it's unreasonable.. just my thought..

I used a 300 GB plan, with 500 minutes of call and 500 sms with my phone. And I pay about 80 dollars a month. That's the iPhone 6S Plus with 64 GB inside.

And I bought a router from another service provider with 300 GB Internet for about 17 - 18$ a month.
The 4G internet here is so cheap that we are being sold 2TB, yes 2000 GB valid for 6 months with a wifi router for $175.
And you say it costs the Red giant money? Come on already.

Customers now will be able to sue Verizon for putting a limit in an "unlimited" subscription for false advertising.

Please Correct me if I am Wrong...

I Believe what Verizon mean is for those customer who are using data excessively or we call it Data Pumping. All Airtime Plans that includes data whether it is Post paid or Prepaid can access data at High Speed on an Allotted amount of GB and once consumed data speed will be lowered or throttled.

                                  For Example:
Post Paid Airtime Includes Unlimited Calls/SMS and First 10GB of high speed Data lowered to 2G. As soon as the customer used all 10GB of high speed data, data speed will be throttled. However there are some customer (Tech Savvy) uses Data Pumping application. There are a lot of mod applications out there that can get you through the network even if you are our of data already. Customer is very happy because he/she is always at high speed though used up all data allotment already. On the other hand, as you continue to use the data, everything is recorded on the data base. The service provided will be able to see that you are using data at high speed even if you are out of high speed already. Data base shows that you are already throttled so there is no way you can use high speed data anymore. But with the help of you application you are able to do so.

I believe this is what Verizon is up to. Port Paid or Prepaid, there is no such plan that says you will have Unlimited High Speed data, Each bracket has its own Data Cap. You will have Data but will be throttled once data is reached.

Loool what Verizon needs to do is suck it up and stop crying about it. Let em keep the data they originally gave. They can go f themselves with this ultimatum.
