The OS was dying even when you made that comment, Samsung knew that hence they abandoned it. And now they are grateful they did, while Nokia is struggling to get back to its feet. If Nokia had adopted Android in its early days like Samsung did, things would have been better for it today. Blackberry also messed up, they joined Android when it was too late and now they are no longer manufacturing phones.

NO SUPPORT ANDS NO APPS AS PROMISED!
They just think its ok to take $$$ and run.
NEVER BUY SAMSUNG YOU CAN'T TRUST THEM!

And one more thing: Sony Ericcson & Samsung abandoned Symbian because their symbian handsets were not getting updates and support from Nokia... not because they can't "defeat them" like someone said.
The giant royalties given by Samsung and Sony Ericcson was not worth it.
It just raised the mobiles' cost of the other manufacturers, so that Nokia can sell in peace.

Nokia might have won the battle, but it lost a lot of respect...
Sabotaging and ignoring Symbian devices like Omnia HD, Innov8, Vivaz, etc. and supporting N86, N79, etc. was a REALLY CHEAP MOVE...
Nokia, a great example of the phrase "winners suck!" (sometimes they do)...

I love samsung, I hate symbian.
I dont mind nokia, but why hang on to a dying, old problem.

Well keep in mind that even Nokia will drop symbian from parts of its product line up in order to get Windows Phone 7 on board. Blackberry however will probably run their company into the ground before switching to WP7.
Nokia still has some customers in china because they were the "best" 15 years ago and therefore are the "best" now, but outside of that market they are bleeding support and are eroding their brand value. WP7 clones (as apple and the other china brands no doubt will create) are not an option.

It's like selling something and then forgetting. That's pathetic.
What impression will it give to the Omnia HD users now? They'll feel cheated.
Hardware wise, Omnia HD was the best at it's time, during the year 2009. People will fear buying samsung now...we may even see samsung ditching BADA platform next year, who knows.

If they had planned to stop supporting Symbian, they should not cut off the Loyal Fan who had already bought the expensive Symbian devices. They ought to give options to the Fans who had these devices to upgrade to Android or better yet the Bada OS (to get more phones on the Bada, cheating perhaps) so that Samsung could give them better support for at least 3 years down the line.
Its much better than to switch OS to even Bada, rather than to not get support for ones phone.

You stop supporting symbian?Ha when did you support it untill now?We all spent so much money for good devices like omnia hd, 7110 and others and whe never got an update.It was the first and the last time that i am using samsung.What's your next step, stop supporting Galaxy s, a 800$ device?

samsung needs to move on to making garbage disposals.... if they want to keep costumers they should do the right thing, and if they are shutting down symbian they should give drivers and bootloaders to the people that are trying to make those smartphones work the way they are supposed to. example: omnia hd i8910 we all spend $700 dollars, not only we don't have voip and a lagging operating systems, now we don't even have support.

Symbian was about to die out in a year or two and Samsung is just shortening its suffering. I don't understand those negative comments about Samsung. They were supporting their Symbian phones for a long time anyway. Right now there are too many good systems like Android or Bada which still barely made it on the market and honestly, Symbian is not a good system. It's very outdated and simply pointless right now. It was probably quite expensive to support Symbian phones for Samsung and now they can place these funds into their Android and Bada support. That's called "moving on".

Never liked symbian.... Android rocks, and Smasung is working very hard and bet on good phones like the galaxy....
As for Nokia lovers, just to let you know that they´re betting on MeeGo for future phones, not symbian....

SAM, 02 Oct 2010i wonder why people reacting much.if samsung shuts its supp... moreWhy shouldone go to search for apps on other websites if someone has invested for samsung .... its samsung's responsibility to provide desired info and apps to its buyers.
also why one shold trust samsung if this co refrains itself to stick with the os which it had provided to its buyers.
Also if u retrospect and do some research then u will find that there have been plenty of apps and user friendly features which nokia had provided years ago as unlimited entries for sms and phonebook which till now samsung has problem with many models and other companies also fall in.
Also if u observe them as icons or features which nokia had introduced way before like file manager / free os for developers / icon and its shuffling / first 5 mega pixel camera wiht red eye reduction on n95 etc which these co.s are following now. These companies even got the hint and inspiration from nokia.
There cld be some problem in nokia's mgt are they are not working hard to become aggressive with more powerful tools and apps but i m sure with the coming time people will have remorseful feeling for ditching nokia.
