The Apple AppStore now has over 300,000 apps

17 October, 2010
The Apple App Store is still undeniably the leader in application stores. Without much fanfare, sometime yesterday evening it passed the 300,000 apps mark- less than two months after is passed the count of...

free apps = trial/lite version and crap fart games

this isn't true. you have to follow for sales, most games become free in some period of time and also there are lots of free and full alternatives of famous games, you can try them. Also you have to pay at least 1 dollar to make developer more ambitious about updating with new features or making new amazing games. 1 dollar does not hurt anybody and i'm playing angry birds for more than a year and you just start to play, poor you.

Anonymous, 17 Oct 2010Imo despite the count, the appstore remains the weakest app... moreApple App Store the weakest is quite a laughable comment given the existence of others such as Blackberry's App Store.

And funny that you should mention Plants vs Zombies, here's what the creator of that game had to say about the Blackberry market:

"RIM today is not really on our radar," says Andrew Stein, director of mobile business development for PopCap Games Inc., the Seattle-based creator of casual-gaming hits like "Bejeweled" and "Plants vs. Zombies."

PopCap developed games for BlackBerrys as recently as a few years ago. But during the last year the firm has largely switched focus to iPhones and phones running Android because of their growing popularity and slick, powerful systems.

Anonymous, 17 Oct 2010yeah and half of them are farting apps thats coolThis is great news, and goes to show how popular the platform is with developers. Not all apps will be great, but having more competition means the cream of the crop will rise to the top, and be of better quality.

This can already be seen easily in the gaming section. Lots of crap, but lots of quality titles as well. The App Store has certainly changed my view of mobile phones. Well done Apple!

Imo despite the count, the appstore remains the weakest appstore of all. it may have 300 000 but most of them are trials, ebooks, crap fart games, and many apps meant to do the same thing. The android market is the better option, the games are actuallly free not just trials, like the new angry birds. Waiting for zombies and plants!

So does a paid app and it's free lite version count as two apps or just one?
