HTC Gratia is like a deja vu, it's the Euro alter ego of the HTC Aria

18 October, 2010
The HTC Aria broke free from its initial AT&T-only status and now it even changed its name to avoid detection. It's now called the HTC Gratia and has been spotted in a European cafe munching on some Froyo...

what is the point of releasing same device with different names? whhy is companies like HTC and samsung making life difficult for themselves when it comes to upgrading the firmware for each device. total idiots, HTC Aria very beautiful name why change it, Samsung Galaxy S why they have different versions.

is it just me or dose this phone look very much like the HTC HD Mini and even the specs are exactly the same the only diffrence looking at it is the colours the bottom part of the screen and the os and nothing else.
if you tried to swap the back covers with a HTC HD Mini it would proberly fit looking at i have got to admit the White and the Black is a nice colour but not the Green one

jhie, 18 Oct 2010this phone has only 5mp and htc desire hd has 8mp? how come... moreBecause this is not a new, but in fact a 5 months old phone. They just kind of re-release it, but for Europe now. Development costs nothing in this case. Not investing any money, but MAYBE gaining something is the reason why they bring up the Gratia instead of developing something Desire-HD-surpassing.

this phone has only 5mp and htc desire hd has 8mp? how come? htc desire has better specs. I am an HTC FAN but why htc doesnt want to release new phone better than htc desire hd? the only problem with htc phone is the battery life, seconday cam, and the internal storage. they should make at least 32gb built in. thats all. HTC RULES!

                Great news.
But the Gratia needs to be priced sensibly between the Wildfire and the Legend even though on benchmarks the Aria out-sang the Legend good.
3,2 inches HVGA screens are a real segment. Until Samsung can get enough 3,3 WVGA SuperAMOLED produced that is...
Clearly that is a phone that can be marketed as an upscale to the €210 Sony X8, something the €250 Wildfire has trouble with. With the 480x854 Motorola Defy labeled at €350, HTC Europe has some thinking to do.
Only LG has new HVGA devices coming up this week actually. Where are Alcatel and Samsung ?

                        Way too late

I wanted to import the Aria like what ? 5 Months ago ?
With the Motorola Defy's Release in a few days, HTC failed to get me as their customer. Will probably cost a fortune too.

                            daam man, looks awesome

A Legend without the Aluminum but with Froyo, we know HTC probably won't give the Legend 2.2 or the changes are pretty slim.

but the unofficial crowd probably will
