You have clas... morepeople nowadays are searching value for money. it is not like they absolutely ignore quality. i am shocked how micromax came second because it is really bad and now everyone is understanding that they sell substandard products at ok prices. micromax is for people who just want a phone about which they don't care and are not necessarily poor. xiaomi, leeco, one plus are value for money. these people are ignoring after sales for quality(somewhat) as well as quantity. but after sales in india for brands like samsung, sony etc is also not very fabulous. most samsung users are j series category coz they want after sales, brand value, good price on selling it second hand. lastly flagship owners. some flagship owners buy because they need it and they use it to the fullest whereas some buy it for the swag value. office goers like myself need a flagship just because it is the only computing device that sticks with me on the go and still does some good multitasking(office work). then there exist some extremely happy nokia feature phone users. still i think nowadays the quantity only factor for buying a smartphone is gone, people now seach for value for money( a mixture of quality and quantity).

    It was obvious.

India is a complex market. You have class which buys even vertu phones.
But it is general mentality to pay less and get more ( quality becomes secondary). This can be seen from scam on ringing bells.

Reasons for Samsung's and micromax success is-
    - offering popular features at lesser price - dual cam, dual sim,big screen, expandable memory. Most of flagship phones do not offer above features.
    - presence of service centres and brick mortar stores across the country. It is general understanding that - it is more reliable to buy a product if they have good after sales service centres.that is different thing how frequently one has to visit. This is common criticism for brands like Motorola,Blackberry.
    - both these brands drop prices very soon.
    - xiaomi gained popularity since it satisfied point 1, but could not make it to top due to absence of service centres.

And by the way - if you visit Micromax outlets, you will never have any dummies to see. If you want to buy , you have to buy without opening the pack and absolutely no dummies to check before you buy. However, if you visit resellers like hopspots or mobile shops, you may see MM dummies.

Anonymous, 20 Aug 2016Here Reliance Jio is selling garbage costing around 50 $, p... morethat phone is good for nothing. the phone keeps on discharging when tethering is on and the phone is plugged in the wall. the ui has 3-4 seconds latency. when samsung offer came out i immediately got one jio sim for my note 5 and immediately sold that phone the next day for 1500. using it was like slow death.

ithehappy, 20 Aug 2016Given Indian people only care about price, and the word qua... moreand here comes you pal saying Samsung isnt giving the quality..which year you are living in? 2006 i.e in the feature phones era? The way you commented, i was expecting you to write that "Nokia should be on top"..lol..and Xiaomi was a king in 2014 or so coz no one want to buy their Mi5 now that breaks in half during the bent test..so, quality..yea right..and if you are happy with Micromax placing on 2nd number..then i sure you have lotsssss of knowledge about "quality"..period.
P.S- yes i paid more than the competition for my Galaxy S2, S5 and now Note 5 but even my S2 is running like a mint with only battery change till date without any internal hardware, sotfware problem and yeaa even all the parts of the same are still available in the market..so thats Quality for me..i dont know about your definition of the same.

Anonymous, 20 Aug 2016I buy one Samsung, I helped you become #1. Now give me update. What do u plan do with the update? Most probably u will end io complaining that battery life has gone down after update.

ithehappy, 20 Aug 2016Given Indian people only care about price, and the word qua... moreyou got no idea mate. my friend is a surgeon uses nokia feature phone and my neighbour who is a private school teacher uses i-phone. Don't be judgemental. each one has right to anything he/she wants. riding a bicycle with iphone/s7 in pocket absolutely doesn't suit whereas riding bmw x1 with nokia feature phone does suit. buying phones with daddy's money is nothing to boast about mate.

Here Reliance Jio is selling garbage costing around 50 $, people are purchasing it because of the bundled offer. For 50$ they are getting a phone with unlimited 4G data and Voice Calling for 3 months. Nobody gives a damn about their phones, they just use it as a wifi hotspot device. lol

Given Indian people only care about price, and the word quality doesn't exist in their dictionary its shocking that Samsung is even there, let alone first place. It should be Xioamai in first place (cause that company is a God given to the mentally and financially poor people of India), and then other Chinese-Indian hybrid makers following Xiamoimai's lead.

Oh my great India, you will take out China of its first place for population, but you have already taken them out for using garbage products. Kudos.
