Samsung Galaxy Note7 loses to year old iPhone 6s in speed test

23 August, 2016
Despite being a year old, the iPhone 6s is known to hold its own against more modern devices in speed tests. This is in no small parts due to Apple's software optimization, the performance of the A9 chip, and incredibly quick NVMe storage. But how does it fare against the brand new Galaxy Note7?

Its amazing how fast these competitor-bashing videos gets viral.

I just did a speed test trying to start and stop MS Word on an iPhone and on a Mac Pro.. And found that starting and stopping Word 20-times on the iPhone 6S was significantly faster than starting and stopping word on the Mac Pro.

The big difference here is that I am not stupid enough to think the conclusion of this test is that the Mac Pro is a slug compared to an iPhone 6S. I find it disturbing that so many tech reporters seem to jump over videos like this that obviously are produced only to mislead and misrepresent performance of new devices.

Swedish internet foundation measures real-user speed on average in the swedish LTE networks.. And the result which phones are the fastest in real network performance may surprice you...

Well it's massive. Like I said before, it's like comparing an entry level China phone to a flagship Samsung phone. First, the fov difference is unfortunately NOT just a little. The Gear VR provides immersion, it has 101 degree of fov (the new one), while the cardboard is only 60, it's like looking through a peephole. Second, the additional head movement sensors inside of the Gear VR to ensure a smoother picture transition hence giving a more immersive experience and help avoiding nausea to the user. Third is the software. Oculus VR software is like miles away from Google's VR. Much more refined with many more quality contents. And the comfort of the padding on the face, the strap, the build quality of the Gear VR, all help to make the gap between it and the cardboard that much bigger. Just give it a try.

This really should be a non-story. Comparing iOS to Android is bit like comparing Apples to Oranges.

Or if you want to be more specific, comparing a super-lightweight English track-day car with a sports saloon/sedan.

The track-day car may give you the speed & thrills in a race but it's the sports saloon that has the boot/trunk for storage, more seats, leather trim, air conditioning, part assist, rear sensers etc when when you are not racing.

There is no doubt that that iOS will destroy Android when it comes to performance, even in years to come but this doesn't take away the fact that the open-source nature of Android makes it far more versatile & adaptable then Apple dare make iOS to be.

From the graphs you have provided it is clear that UFS gives 200+ MB/S of read times... so even if you would need to load entire app (like angry birds) it would take 250ms, but you never load whole app... most likely the launching of the app takes like 1-2MB (so ~
