I will say one thing, Ive had Xperia X10 for 6 months, 2 months black one and 4 months white one and 2 weeks ago I have sold it and bought myself Galaxy S. WOW ! What a difference ! Screen, speed, HD video, 9,9mm thickness, Android 2.1, fron camera !! Only thing that is better on X10 is the white unit which is beautiful and LED light and NOTHING more ! If you can, swap for Galaxy S and again you will have smile on your face. Then try Tango app for videocall from the market and make use of the Galaxys front camera and you will laugh to yourself for buying X10, I have. NEVER SE again !

Who cares anymore? X10 had such potential and SE failed it with no multi-touch and even worse the real killer, the slowest released and latest update possible...It is the best looking smartphone on the market IMO but, c'mon SE! 2.1 still not out and not enough foresight to make sure your touchscreen, flagship phone has multi-touch.....
I'll wait for their next offering, returned my x10 and got an Samsung Epic 4g.
Haven't experienced any of the known issues and will be getting 2.2 this month.......

...I'm just happy I stuck with a time-proven Docomo SO905iCS (which was released around abouts half a decade ago now), ironically running an extremely modified (and tested) S60 OS.
The thing is, you're hearing all these complaints because the early-birds who bought the X10 EXPECTING an update didn't get one. Unfortunately, that's a gamble: being an early bird adopter.
Manufacturer's come up with all these prettied-up ads to get the less informed (with usually deeper pockets) into buying their latest and greatest, usually heavily under-tested in regards to reliability so that they can 'beat-the-competition-to-it', rolling out so-called updates as the time rolls on, by then coming up with another so-called latest and greatest. And alas, the cycle continues, and those who persistantly don't get the message... The manufacturers are laughing their way straight to the bank.
I learnt my lesson from buying a Samsung SGH-D600 back in 2006. Never bought anything that's the 'best' since. I tell my peers today to stick with time-proven gadgets, cause you just can't go wrong with them. Though with the trends today, with manufacturers releasing so many devices over a short period of time, it's harder to find more reliable gadgets that manufacturers are willing to support for more than 2 years. So yeah, you need to be in the know to dish up for gadgets on the magnitude of the X10 (or the N8, whathaveyou).

I m looking for a new mobile but im confused betwee... moreBecause you have this two particular model in mind, it will boil down to the OS choice you have to make, Symbian or Android. Anonymous, 21 Oct 2010LAMO this is a joke on so many Levels which ever way you lo... more
Who cares about you or what you think? Do you really think you will be missed or make a difference if you don't buy a se phone :)
It's better to go with buggy froyo samsung and moto since you are in loved with froyo. Froyo still has a lot of problems! At least problems with companies since it's not working smooth.
So we are happy with 2.1 since it's smooth and fast :)

LAMO this is a joke on so many Levels which ever way you look at it
Lets get this straight, how freakin Long does it take SE to put that garbage timecrap into Android?
ok a year?, 8 months?, 6 months?
Android 2.2 came out what at the start of the year, March? its been 7 MONTHS, and this is 2.2 we're talking about
LAMO they are bringing 2.1 after over a year!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHA Not even out
why not just go with Froyo
WAIT thats rite, SE thinks its being Smart like HTC and purposely didn't bring 2.2 cause it will release a Flagship with 2.2
but wait a minute.. SE dont have another Android Flagship LMAO so all this for nothing!!!
Great work SE you useless tards
this is the last time i'm getting a SE, its also the first but after the X10, a phone that could have been amazing they do all this..
too bad

With the rather slow pacing of SE's software updates, it would seem that the company has a very small number of software engineers. For convenience purposes, the company could have at least released a stock android 2.1 and later on their customized version of the OS.
It would also been better if the company directly skipped to Android 2.2 (Froyo) instead of having to go through the Android 2.1 version.

ian, 21 Oct 2010hey guys, does this update to eclair allows multitouch??clearly you didn't read the news article but anyways, no it doesn't...the phone has hardware limitation, so the software update won't enable multi-touch, unfortunately.
