I have a SE X10 and I've been waiting for this update for months. WHEN is this update coming out? We'll be seeing Android Gingerbread around Christmas time on tablets and on phones early 2011. SE better get on their act.

I love my SE X10i, I would suggest SE to improve the fully frame rate 30fps of video record with HD quality. that X10 can record the car speed smoothly. it look like the real car speed in the phone.

LCD panel marke... moreIn the late 80's and 90's, I used almost nothing but Sony products....Walkmans, Discmans, stereo system, TV's, MD's, etc...
Then came the age of MP3's and memory stick, which I think Sony started to lose its edge as memory stick proved to be less popular, hence more expensive, than competitors in the media storage markets. Worst of all, users revealed many memory sticks proved to be unreliable and data maybe lost.
In the TV's arena, the Koreans really started to capture the market with relatively lower cost but almost as good quality. Why pay 1/3 more if the components "inside" are the same? I had many "Discmans" but in terms of VCD/DVD era, Sony's players seemed to have trouble reading some of the not-so-official discs.
MP3 walkmans pretty much lost its edge when Siemens introduced MP3's be played in mobile phones, and phones with 3.5mm jack like Motorola E2 steal even further in the Walkman's market, which even in Fall 2010 Sony still releases its so called "Walkman" phone Zylo WITHOUT 3.5mm jack.
In terms of phones, I bought the Z5 for my back then GF (now my wife), which was ok. But then that proved to be the first...and likely the last, Sony phone we own, as after merging with Ericsson, the quality declined, especially with voice quality, where most SE phones are known to capture so much background noise that the person's own voice can hardly be heard.
Given the price to have X8 running on 1.6 "maybe" ok, but then its top-of-the-line X10 still runs on 1.6 ever since April this year is really...and the only 2.1 users can SEE is a bunch of teaser video on the web...which seemed to be designed to "tease" the users.
The only Sony product I'm using now is a 2nd hand car stereo which I wanted to play my old MD's....

Because samsung have so many phones, they really don't have the time to make impressive upgrades and updates. That's the reason se is much better when it comes to updating their cellphones.

I am not a SE fanboy....but I think SE is a reliable co. ...and it really goes with most of the needs...but they still lack some creativity..

SE is very reliable . By the time we will be getting the froyo all the problems that are being faced by the froyo will be solved and 2.1 is looking very promising . so don’t always criticize SE .
