I just bought an SE after using nexus 5 for almost 3 years. I couldnt wait any longer to get a phone not being too large for my liking or being too low on hardware.

With the many various sources of radiation all around us, I doubt placing of the phone affects things so dramatically. At least theoretically, that's what the SAR values are for, and devices breaching safe limits shouldn't get approved. But that's the theory.

5 inch screen is just fine for anything like surfing internet, watch videos/movies, gaming etc.

Anonymous, 29 Aug 2016It's a pain trying to type messages on a small screen! 5" w... moreWho still types anymore? Swiping input works great with smaller screens and easily works best one-handed, one-thumbed ideally. So this is not a good argument.

I had Xperia P, now Z1c, still going strong, battery easily lasts the day. I will upgrade to X-Compact for sure unless it is ridiculously crippled in some way.

Not unless its absolutely necessary. I mean I have big hands and Z5 with its 5,2 inch screen feels like it belongs there. It's big yeah, but not uncomfortably big.

Compact phones are great, but they just aren't for me.

Yes I definitely buy one and yes I believe people should have the option to buy compact phones with good specs. More people want compact phone because they need their phone to more easy to use with one hand.

Why all the heated comments in here??

We all got different size and shape, so we should one type of device fit all?

Please just accept that some want two-hand operated devices, got huge hands or impaired vision.
And others want devices that can be one hand operated while keeping a secure grip with normal hands, but still want top specs, and not a mediocre device.

For some the ease of use of a larger screen outweighs the portability and one hand operation. For others it is the other way round. Nobody are 'right' or 'wrong' here....

Great phablets are just great for the right segment. Good for you.
But why should lesser physical dimension mean mediocre specs? Sure the physic dimensions set some limitations (we can not expect an equally huge battery in a smaller body), but that is not what is going one here.

Sure QHD would be out of reach of the vision for almost all on phone sized device - but could still be good when used for VR, But for normal use FHD would be enough. (HD is not good in 2016). And we should still be able to get a 64 bit CPU and at the least 3GB ram in 2016.

I'm talking what SonyEricsson did back in 2011, with their top series ARC/NEO(+pro)/RAY with 'identical' specs, only real difference were the size of each FVGA pixel.
Just like that we would like different device sizes with (same) top specs in 2016.

Especially if uhd is the standard. But I care more about the handling, and that's why I like a bigger phone (and bulkier than current phones. Added bonus would be having a nice big battery and could house a physical keyboard). Almost bought the BB Priv but it still remains at a ridiculous pricepoint and, for that money, doesn't tick ALL the boxes.)

Frankly i dont see any use having a large smartphone. The meaning of convenience is just no more there. Its not as if u gonna share it with someone else. Eg.. View websites, watch movies together.. U r already viewing it in front of your face, how big u want it to be? Whatsmore with google u can zoom in/out with one hand. I've tried large smartphones before, n noticed u still have to zoom in on desktop sites. Yes even the 5.7 inch ones..

Compacts is the only type I buy. Xperia P then ZR & now Z3 Compact. Go Xperia sice only they make good compacts.
Almost 75% of voters here have said that they woud like compact flagships. Hopefully other phone makers will learn something from that.
