The funny thing is, if symbian had 10 homescreens, and android had 100, you'd still make fun of symbian's.
I have a phone with one homescreen yet can access 14 items. Thats s60v3 for you.

Whats only about 3 home screens. I miss the days when people actually stole with common sense. The idea behind home screens was to enable fast access to regularly used features. Each home screen on the n8 can take 6 widgets or 24 shortcuts as compared to just 1 widget per screen or 4 shortcuts on some android devices. Whats the use of 7 homescreens when you can get to where you're going in the menu with less than 7 clicks. So you're prepared to make 7swipes just so you can come here and talk trash. Get lost.

Nokia would become a monster again if they only dropped that lame-@ss symbian OS. They should probably jump in the android wagon and also probably get in line to use some WP7!

S^1 was a disappointment. What is s^2? S^3 a disappointment? Get you brain firmware checked. There appear to be some serious errors with your reasoning. And don't get me wrong. There was an s^2 but it wasn't used any where near where the english language is spoken plus it was just a beta to s^3.
If you had any common sense, you would know that ram amounts comparisms across platforms is a definition of stupidity. Windows xp performs better with 512 ram than windows vista. Windows xp on 256mb ram with screen resolution 800x 600 performs better than windows xp with 512 ram and screen resolution 1280x768.

If you read the article you could see the N8 lens is bigger.
And yes the lens size is more important than the number of MegaPixels ! (Most mirror reflex camera have 10MP)

sounds promising, though i hope that symbian 4 won't end up as a dissapointment as with symbian 1,2(n97 & n97mini) and 3,, and although 256mb ram is an improvement, still it feels as short of nowadays pc-like mobile usage, just compare HTC hero or smasung spica to s. galaxy or HTC deisre,, so i wouldn't expect miracles though from n8 with symbian 4

Nokia needs to show good faith to their customers. Release a Meego beta download for the N900 already and allow users to flash their N8 to work with Meego as well. Symbian is a real crappy OS compared to the other mobile OS'es out there. I've been a die-hard Nokia fan but switched to the Samsung Galaxy S and have yet to regret that choice. Come on Nokia, you have such great hardware, now bring the software up to par!

Could be too little, too late. How can they possibly step up when they obviously have no good experience developing touchscreen software. They're going to need to work 5x faster than Google and Apple at this rate to even release a half-decent Meego device next year.

Sometimes you just have to get beat near to death before making the obvious changes.
Nokia exiting the markets and leaving them to the tender care of the likes of Apple, Google and Microsoft would suck donkey so if they can even get this half right I'll fully embrace the move.

I guess they will keep upgrading the N8 till it reaches S^4 and then might (just might) give us an option to have a meego as the OS for the N8.
