Samsung is withdrawing the Galaxy Note7 from some markets due to faulty batteries

A recall still has not been officially announced - meaning that for now you won't have to return your purchased Note 7, but the unsold units are being withdrawn.

[deleted post]No i am not one of them who think they are forced to change their phones every year or two. I used my mid range Xperia SP (2013) for a good 2.5 years or more maybe and changed it for Z5 because i wanted to and it is still going strong as a secondary phone.
I see you are not the one seeking for newer flagships every year, well then you really dont need to change the phone as basics are still operated on my Xperia Neo V from 2011 and if one wants to use it even in 2016, he/she can.

    Well, I for one praise Samsung for this action. They know that it was their mistake in the first place (specifically, Korean ITM Semiconductor was the one to blame for providing faulty batteries) and they take full responsibilities for it. Eventhough making the Note7 is the most expensive phone they manufacture (the iPhone 6s cost less to manufacture) but they are willing to exchange the faulty phone with a new one.

    Apple on the other hand just want to protect their margins. The iPhone 7 will be the most expensive phone Apple will produce, so Apple is squeezing component makers to protect its margins. Component makers are paid less for the component needed for the new iPhone. Although there are complaints about this issue, there’s really nothing they can do about it. Apple are fully aware that none of Apple’s suppliers can afford to lose its business. If they lose Apple, they lose their business. Apple has threatened to take its business elsewhere if the suppliers didn’t agree to price cuts.

    I love both componies, but it seem that they both taking opposite path in terms of guarding ther business and reputation.

      Samsung is going to get a hard hit right now specially when the new iPhone is going to be available in less than two weeks. I reckon whose doing is this, as Samsung's battery supplier defaulted and now Samsung has to recall all their units even after recalling, people with higher and sensitive concerns wont even get the Note7 in their lives (me neither now). Thats a big disappointment for Samsung, well, someone is going to get hugely benefited from it now.

        Even in India Samsung has posepond the delivery dates from 3sep to around 10sep.

And because manufacturers thought they'll get even more money that way. Hope both parties will now reconsider this and we'll see more removable batteries in the future.
                    I personally still refuse to buy a phone with non-removable battery. I never have. If i do, then it will at least be something cheaper. But a "flagship" with a non-removable battery? Well that's absurd. Why buying a flagship if i'm going to have to replace it 1 or 2 years later at best.

                      Bad news for Samsung. Removable batteries are a thing of the paste, even lg will eventually give up on removable battery. Well samsung should cut down the insane price of the note 7. I still want one.

                        Put bigger and removable batteries, dedicated sd slot, stereo speakers, if possible add water resisistence and get rid of the ridiculous and impractical materials used for "premium" phones (Glass, metal); and there is no way someone would chose the iPhone just because the Galaxy is not out yet (And there is no way an i-fan would chose a Galaxy either. One would be a fashion accesory, the other would be a high-tech gadget).

                              oh it's bad for samsung, same case like the famous suv here. after series of problems reported, not selling well anymore. actually i am just waiting for the note 7 silver titanium color unit. now i change my mind, not to buy any more. go for other brand.

                                    Now do all fa(shio)n-boys finally get it? Non-removable battery=useless phone.
                                    Sad thing is, both Samsung and users won't think about this. They'll just blame the battery manufacturer (As if normally there are never faulty batteries. And even if there were't, they just don't last enough time, especially with the fast charging, which is another idiocy needed because they put ridiculously small batteries good for only half day of continuous usage at best).

                                        Solution: Do a worldwide recall of the Note 7 release a new one Note8 with removable, fix other problems as well lower the price due to excuse for selling faulty products, problem solved.
