This is bad for Samsung of course, however the swiftness of their actions to acknowledge and rectify the issue will limit the damage and maybe even enhance their already stellar reputation.

Reckon their is an outside supplier just been sacked and well out of pocket.

A product recall is a request to return a product after the discovery
of safety issues or product defects that might endanger the
consumer or put the maker/seller at risk of legal action.

Anonymous, 03 Sep 2016I don't remember any smartphone recalls in recent history. You don't recall bc others companies just let it pass, but since samsung is so good and it's doing the best some people like you are just digging to see something negative about the hundreds of positive ones to create news. This page is full on iPhone troll that are so happy about this. But guess what remember that it's only about 24 from a million and they were responsible enough to stop sales and to replace the ones that are already in people's hands. They can fix that problem within weeks since they build everything in house.... Not in "China" in house. Can anyone remember that slogan "designed in California, built in China" .

True, a non-removable battery would've avoided this fiasco and Samsung would've saved BILLIONS. Type-C is a new standard and fast charging does heat up to many other phones.

But much respect to Samsung as well. Tiny sample of 1 out of 42,000 and they were able to MAN UP and take full responsibility for it. That's like saying "my bad" to their customers while costing them billions of cash for a mistake from their battery supplier. Other companies wouldn't risk doing that and would just let it pass.

I hope they will learn and return to removable battery next year. And I hope some of the people who whined about premium design and materials can now tolerate plastic rears again. We wanted premium materials and guess what? We lost removable battery for it. Be careful what we wish for next...

Samsung is still the most popular Android OEM. Still have the most third-party accessories for Android phones. Still easily the most ROOTABLE for being the most common. Still have the best ecosystem among Android OEMs. We can hate Samsung but let's not deny some of their GREATNESS.

Love or hate like Kobe and LeBron. Note7 could be the most polarizing smartphone since the iPhone 4. But you can't deny its greatness in display, design, and camera either. Samsung just lost billions from a tiny sample. Now it is up to you if you still believe in them..?

This will cost samsung A LOT, but they don't have any choice. They are replacing every dumbphone because they know the risk.

What is that strategy ? I don't feel like buying Sony just for that reason. They should've put 4000 and above mah battery for a 6"er. Otherwise if it only had fingerprint and USB c xa ultra would be amazing!
