This clearly demonstrates that Samsung has to bring the removable (and user-replaceable) battery back in its future smartphones.

This is nothing new to any brand or mass produced consumer goods. Most people on here are so fickle and naive

That is the complete opposite. It is iOS users that on they daily deny an form crash or lag and instabilities/glitches that they have or have ever existed since the dawn of its time.

While then severely exaggerating those of android.
Good try but next time stick to reality

It is a prison, where everything is dumbed down, simplifed and managed by apple hipster religion itself.

Anonymous, 14 Sep 2016You shouldn't clap for Samsung. You should do your part... moreI am not defending nor protecting SAMSUNG. What I am saying is on my own observation to the situation and to the actions made by SAMSUNG. If am Samsung then I will do the same for the sake of everyone. In fact "Samsung has identified the affected inventory and stopped sales and shipments of those devices. We are also collaborating with national regulatory bodies" and can be found on one of Samsung's Websites http://www.samsung.com/ph/note7replacement/ and as you can see on the website there is no such issue reported that there was a Note 7 explosion on such country but they are willing to replace all units sold on or before September 07, 2016.

If you call it Protecting Samsung then so be it. That is your point of view. But if you already know that your device is defective would you still be using it even if you already know that it will explode any time just like what these people are doing.?. and them blaming it back to Samsung though you already know about the defect.?. Don't tell me they don't know because it is all over the news and information has been given From Samsung to retailers to Carriers to send sms/emails to their note 7 users to return/refund or exchange.

                      Try to understand before barking.

What I'm more interested in is an in-depth segregated demographics for these explosions. Which of the models carrying the Samsung SDI batteries are Snapdragons or Exynos variants when occurrence of explosions tend to happen (excluding those considered 'at risk' but have not blown up yet)?

I love all these fanboys and girls just going on about this whole note 7 fiasco with no hard facts.

Let me say this. All phones are prone to explosions. They all use lithium ion batteries. There I just saved you pointless arguing and bias you'll find in all the comment sections. There is no room for intelligent non bias discussion nowadays..

They are just rolling out Marshmallow to some android flag ships meanwhile android Nougat is out, and you android users are pretent to be iphone users having issues with ios10. save it for later buddy, android is trash, phones have a life spam of 9 months. You know how dumb this sounds? caps off the update at 60%? joke of the year for samsung.

                                  Such a cheater company.

Advertise as a 3500mah battery but can only charge max of 60%.

I wouldn't trust this crappy cheater company anymore.
I will tell all my friends and relatives not to go with Samsung again.

I will go for HTC or LG. The best Android phones manufacturer on the planet.

                                        First and for most!

The Title is misleading. It does not indicate which phone is it. Will it be current sold units or will it include the new ONES with S on it.

Well I do believe that the UPDATE is for the current Phones which are already sold and are defective. Defective units which are still on the retailer will never be sold and will be return as per the RECALL.

Scanning and reading of the comment here. There are some that who really do have understanding and really have knowledge to what is going however (unfortunately) there are some who are jumping right into conclusion without any knowledge to what the article is all about.

I am not any fun of any OEM, I don't even use these flagships as there is no reason for me to purchase one. Anyway, going back to the topic, the main reason for these update is to make sure that those consumers who have purchased the defective unit will have there units returned/replaced or refunded. SAMSUNG have announce RECALL and EXCHANGE Program already and that is to avoid more damages. However, these customer are still using the phone thus more incidents are being reported (We don't really have any idea if these people have read the news. reports, blog, sms/emails from SVP's to return the phone or have it exchanged it is all over the internet, new centers and etc.), thus makes SAMSUNG to implement further ACTIONS.

For me, what Samsung is doing is what it needs to be. Even though it is costing them a lot not just money, reputation as well but I respect and applaud what they are doing, not just for their own good but for the masses who are using there device as well.
