[deleted post]The Nintendo DS is a cheap toy. Even the PSP is a cheap (ish) toy. Look at the hardware they contain:

DS - dual CPU @ 67/33MHz, 4MB RAM, dual screen (one touch) @ 256*192 each.
      PSP - CPU @ ~222MHz, 8MB RAM (+2MB for the GPU), widescreen @ 480*272

These are toys, and they are cheap. If you know of a portable toy with greater specs than these, I would be very interested to hear about it, what kind of support (games, accessories, warranty etc) it has and how much it costs.

[deleted post]Have you actually looked at a screen like that? Sure you can see the pixels if you look closely, but from regular use distance its quite hard to notice a difference. I really don't see the point for too high resolution like on iPhone. Also the screen aspect ratio is 16:9 unlike the really nonstandard 3:2 iPhone for example uses, so that also affects the actual pixel density.

The iPhone is great example since the only reason its "retina display" is so that Apple could support old apps through pixel doubling. Nokia smartly chose the same resolution and hardware for all S^3 phones, which leads to good application compability. Just look how hard time Android is having with every phone using different screens.

Read the S^3 reviews BTW. There are 2 reasons why it is quite enough. 1. Symbian uses lot less resources
        2. Symbian can use virtual RAM (One more point for Symbian superiority ;)

Its really hard to actually run out of RAM on N8 and I doubt E7 changes anything.

          warning: satire ahead
          http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=iphone

Look at the features of the OS seriously, and what people are capable of doing with their handsets. Evan a non-pro user like myself takes for granted things that you need an "App" for, for other phones. I hear that Android only just got tethering - something I've been doing for years.

          Grow up.

            Come on guys!
One doesn't need a card slot when the E7 has USB-ON-GO as one of its features.
Symbian can do anything if one knows how to use it.

Anonymous, 09 Nov 2010hardware is shit but i have to say that this is one of the ... moreActually the hardware is really good. Best you kind find in a business phone.

For example pentaband 3G, which makes the S^3 phones the only devices in the world that actually have working 3G pretty much everywhere on the planet. Fully crypted memory is another great enterprise feature. It has one of the best GPU chips currently on any phone. It has USB OTG and S^3 makes it pretty much equal to 1 GHz Android devices in speed and with much better battery life.

On top of that it is of course Nokia build quality. This is top of the line business phone and there is nothing out there from any other manufacturer that can compete. Blackberry Torch probably comes closest, so draw your own conclusions from there ;)

[deleted post]@Anonymous : I'd say, it is exactly the opposite. Symbian has much more configuration options than other systems. This is also a reason for the more complex menu structure.
Since most of the people do not need such a complexity, I'd say Nokia has to simplify Symbian in order to meet the taste of the majority, like android or ios do...
Microsoft had a similar complex os too and simplified it now towards the taste of most customers. Nokia has to act swift, or they'll loose more market share and at a market share below 25% Nokia will get big problems, since they are making profit by selling large quantities...

I am not very impressed with the laggyniess of Nokia N8, so i dont have have any high hopes from E7. i am disappointed with Nokia so much that they cant even sort out their touchscreen after bringing all these phones like 5800, n97, n97 mini, X6, 5230, etc and still they lack on touchscreen.

I dont understand why is Nokia Lagging behind HTC (small company which used to only make phones for TMobile) now has started to take over the world soon why just because they are meeting the demands of the market like producing better and better touch screen phones everytime they release a new phone.

i am so upset in sigining a 2 year contract for Nokia N8, i gave up my beloved nokia 5800 for N8.
