at the end of the day, most edge display owners end up using a phone case that covers those irritating edges. pointless.

Manta 7X doesn't have a physical home button and uses similar gesture and side control as described above in the HTC article

I hate HTC for my HTC HD2 misfortune but I MUST admin that this phone looks pretty cool and the touch control gimmicks are NICE. Come on, HTC, wake up and get sellin'!

This is nothing new. Nokia N9 never had any physical buttons on it (except for the volume +/- and power on/off). Everything was controlled using gestures. It has taken more then 3+ years to bring this kind of phone to android world :(
