Pixel sounds like the name of a child's phone seriously uncool.sadly going to have to leave nexus because I love my nexus6 and cant bear to downsize to something so small.there are so many small phones surely I cant be the only customer who wants a 6inch plus phone with stock android.

      Difference between LG and Google:
Google started marketing before the device is announced.
LG didn't start marketing even after announcing LG V20.

Compared to that at the time HTC was great value and solid build and looks. I'm not fussed overly about water proofing. every phone has its wee minuses and apple didn't have it till recently either.

Savor, 22 Sep 2016Nexus name doesn't sell. Doesn't matter. Google needs t... moreI agree that there are many things Google could do to market its in-house phones better. But changing the name from Nexus, a name that has a following and some cache, amongst technology fans, to "Pixel" a name with no following and no history is not a marketing strategy.

If the Nexus name doesn't sell, as you claim, "Pixel" will sell even less. I am unware of any branding strategy that says its a good idea to throw away a brand with a fan base and a long history, for a totally unrecognizable and unknown new brand name that sounds dumb.

So saying Nexus doesn't sell is really begging the question, because, as you point out, Google never did all the other things they would have needed to do to build a really big brand around Nexus. But that is all the more reason why merely changing the name to something intrinsically stupid like "Pixel" serves less of a purpose.

Google should build on the cache they have with existing Nexus fans. Not alienate their existing customer base, in a bid for unknown hypothetical future new customers.

If Google wanted to call it the "Google Phone," that would make some sense, because obviously "Google" has huge brand recognition. But "Pixel"? It's the worst of both worlds.

Anyway, I hate "Pixel." It sounds dumb. Nexus sounds cool. They should keep Nexus. There is zero argument for "Pidixelbarf."

First of all, what's with all the name-haters? The name is GOOGLE nexus or GOOGLE pixel.. get it? GOOGLE.

Google acolytes want the pure android experience. We trust google to deliver a good experience and don't want the carrier crapware over it. We also want the best hardware as it pertains to delivering the best experience.

I agree with those that say a bigger option would be nice. I love my nexus 6P.. perfect size for me. Will I miss the .2 inches moving down to 5.5? Will any increase in hardware speed and abilities be noticeable? Will the camera be better?

That is the information I will need before moving on.

Fitbri, 22 Sep 2016cant wait for HTC G Pixel, every phone is looking the same.... moreThe only reason these phones will be expensive is because HTC overcharge for their phones. Don't expect it to be any better than any other phone. They couldn't even get the waterproofing right!

cant wait for HTC G Pixel, every phone is looking the same. time to think a little outside the square. maybe even something with a dash of retro

From the leaks, I like the design of the Pixel better than the [new] iPhone. As usual, Apple fails at giving their phones a hot "backside". This is something that HTC is very good at. Apple has tried to emulate the One series with the antenna bands and even poached HTC engineers to achieve this, but they still get it wrong. And the giant camera bumps on iPhones are very intrusive. What's up with that?
I think the rear glass visor on the Pixel is interesting and will bring potential tech capabilities that people curious about. (VR, sensors, antenna strength, et alia). And notice no camera bump.
The fingerprint reader on the iPhone is not in the greatest spot. Google is getting this right, and the new lineup of HTC phones show this. The rear of the device featuring a fingerprint reader leaves room open for multi-functional capabilities, like scrolling and gestures with one hand, while your hand is holding the phone naturally.
Overall, I think marketing is the key though, and with Google putting it weight behind these phones, it has a real chance to take a big piece of the market with the Pixels.
...I want the big one in white :)

there is a market for 6.0 and 7.0 display size and make each phone in small sizes (5.0, 5.5 as well as in large sizes 6.0 and 7.0). Businessmen are willing to carry large phones with a belt clip case. I understand that next year we will have bendable large phones but that's next year!

First , The name sucks , "Pixel" means it is lowest resolution onr pixel.

Pixels with "s" would have been better.

Second , selling the phone locked to carriers sucks as well

I just hope it won't affect the price too much. 5X is a good device, but I'm not buying it because of 2gb ram. My LG G2 has 2gb ram and I want more - every time I get a call, my current application restarts, and its very, very annoying.

I wonder if Android Silver is still going on. A premium stock Android phone with a little extra would have been a dream.

they could have used chrome instead of pixel

Wishing google the very best. However as many have remarked, the brand name pixel seriously sucks. Nexus had that premium feel in its sound just like nexus. Further as a word too its literal meaning excatly represents what the phone is capable of. Unfortunately the pundits at mountain view fail to realise something which is very obvious (just like the oversized 6" inch nexus they designed!!

Probably Google should re launch nexus 5 in some other fashion. Instead of finding something new crap. Nexus 5 was there best till now!
