I have a feeling this is to mock Apple, after all they outclassed the iPhone 7 in many respects yet kept the price at nearly 1/3rd. But the shape is still very Xiaomi, based on their Mi Note that came out in January 2015, before the Samsung used the exact shape in the Note 5, August 2015.
All these companies, Apple very much included, get inspiration or out right copy designs from other companies. The iPhone 4/s and Macbook Air were complete rips from earlier Sony products which Apple have been know to be inspired by. It's no secret Xiaomi's CEO is inspired by Steve Jobs strive for perfection (Note, I did not say inspired by Apple).

As I said in the previous comment, smart people don't troll like an idiot about who looks like who, who did that first crap. It's all about value for money, Xiaomi and One Plus provides it.

Xiaomis handsets are nowhere near copy of those crap. It's actually Samsung who copied MIpros design, and Apple who stole Face recognition feature and nightlight features from MIUI.
You have to be really really stupid to waste money on expensive junks when you can get a better looking and a better performance one at less price.

Shamesung copied everything from Apple, people buys them. They sell plastic junks saying it's Gold, people like you fanbois for them.
Apple recently stole Face Verification which XIAOMI invented, along with the night eye protection feature which MIUI started for smartphones.
Their iOS 7 is direct feature copy of MIUI.
All of the OEMs do this kind of things.
Xiaomi is nowhere near the COPYCAT gurus like Samsung. That's why smart people buys them.
Now I'm pretty sure you didn't watch the keynote of Xiaomi, if you did you would've known facts instead of mumbling trash.
The first 'Galaxy Crap Note' was 5.3 in size. Today's 'Note' standard is bigger, Samsung copied it from Notebook idea and messed it up. Other companies fixed it and made it standard.
According to your mumbling trolling facts, every company that makes smartphone is a copy of Apple because Apple started the first icons and full touch screen. But it's not the fact.
Do some research before you talk about something. Or perhaps I'm wasting my time talking facts to a TROLL.

The note 2 look like a Note 7, and i really believe it wouldn't even exist if the Note 7 wasn't out there.
Why Xiaomi call it ''Note'' instead or something more personnal ? Why Xiaomi design it like a Note 7 instead of something more personnal ?
Same for the MI5S ? Why ''S'' instead of Mi6 ? why rear stripes like the iphone 6 ? why every add are like the iphone 7's ones ?
Men, come on, this phone is for people who thinking Apple phones are over-expensive for what you get, at best, pieces of craps, at worst, so why xiaomi make the MI5S look EXACTLY like a Apple phone ? even in the add ?!!
