400 million machines now run Windows 10 thanks to the free-upgrade program

27 September 2016
There are now 400 million active machines running the company’s latest operating system, Windows 10. After the not-so great reception that Windows 8 and 8.1 had, not to mention its really unintuitive Metro UI, Windows 10 brought a souped up version of Windows 7 with elements of Windows 8.1 built-in.

Windows 10 is amazing, light on resources and sooo fast!
Anyone that didn't upgrade is really missing out...

And majority of them are forced upgrades unwittingly done by the user. Lol

Microsoft should extend the free upgrade. Win 10 is much better than Win 8.1. I believe sceptical users who will test Win 10 will change their mind

Anonymous, 28 Sep 2016How exactly are you FORCED to upgrade?probably unlimited dosage of daily pop up message told you to upgrade ?
or sneaky downloading whole win10 image without concern about you (or your metered data) ?
or DX12 only for win 10, so gamer forced to get win10 to get latest feature of their GPU ?
or no support for kabylake / zen unless you upgrade to win10 ?
windows 8 / 8.1 not even that old and both didn't get DX12 or New CPU support

When I rejected the free upgrade that didnt stop for a year, I only had one thing in mind...
"don't fix what is not broken" -still happy with win 7 ultimate.

AnonD-569738, 28 Sep 2016Ya thx alot to forced upgrade .How exactly are you FORCED to upgrade?

AnonD-569738, 28 Sep 2016Ya thx alot to forced upgrade .It's like someone parked a high end audi in your garage in place of your mid end nissan. You're angry that they did this to you, but you drive it anyways. It doesn't drive so bad, but you don't just swap a persons car without asking.

sometimes it is a compatibility issue or whatever it is, but for me, I have better experience and comfortable UI with W10 than W8, no issues yet since the upgrade I did last year, we'll see if I get 1 like what others are claiming

yeah.... thanks for make my pc crazy after update anniversary
