5x :(

Next year's Pixel will probably be alot cheaper, Google will learn it lesson that they can't compete with either Samsung or Apple & charge over inflated prices for their smartphones.

Also another killer for Google is launching so late in the year, with the likes of the S8 out in the Spring & other's with the Snapdragon 830 from the likes of Sony, LG & HTC plus all of the Chinese Manufactures aswell Google are just going to have a hard time shifting these phones at the price they asking.

Wouldn't surprise me in just a few months of being on the market the retail price of the Pixel starts to drop considerably, being a kick in the teeth for those that paid a premium for this handset.

AnonD-551566, 04 Oct 2016why is it a bad move exactly? they're taking another aproac... moreit's bad move because the Nexus phones could be the cheap good prices phone while Google is releasing new ones. Apple also keeps the previous generation phones online and in store while they releasing new ones and Google want to chase Apple in their footsteps.

So Google, you tried to become like Apple but you doing it wrong.
      Google just had one job.

And i wanted to buy an Nexus 5x in November so please understand me.

AnonD-557355, 05 Oct 2016They wouldn't change the Nexus lineup to Pixel if they were... morePeople are using it just because all these products are free and google also knows about it.. Only reason google is keeping these free is , they want data from people and want to track them and is mainly for analyzing data to route correct ads to public and test data for running some complex AI algorithms.
As soon as google puts some fees on these products, people will migrate to different paid services which I am 100% sure will not be google.

Where is your pride now Nexus users?! Lol. The phone that you all keep praising like god is discontinued. No more Nexus! Here comes Pixel! Finally, I hear the end of Nexus. Good time to be alive.

Anonymous, 05 Oct 2016I don't believe anything Google says about the future. Mayb... moreQuiet possible that they will have low end offerings apart from Pixel.
In past when Nexus 6 was released as a high end stuff, they had Android One to carer to low end segment.

They may do same now,but name can be different.

Nexus phones will be cheap now.

Simple logic- Nougat needs at least 4gb ram. Last Nexus are 2&3gb. Hence, future is not great in terms of performance with updates.
However, for next 2 years it will work great (without Nougat or further updates) with Marshmallow.

I don't believe anything Google says about the future. Maybe there will be no more Nexus phones. But Google often says one thing and does another (including having announced the end of the Nexus line before).

I would not be surprised if the overpriced Pixel phones are a flop and the new brand goes nowhere, because, well it's dumb to throw a seven year old brand (Nexus) under the bus for a new barely known brand with a ridiculous sounding name. And with no less expensive phone, Google is kind of screwing over developers.

Then suddenly Nexus will be back. We'll see.

I think this is the first time Google is actually serious about cementing their place in the smartphone market. Launching their first ever Pixel phone with the best smartphone camera at the moment says it all. They are pretty serious.
Talking about the modular concept. It has its own limitations but indirectly Google encouraged other companies to come up with the modular designs. LG & Motorola.
Long live Google. Unlike Apple or Samsung, Google products actually influence life of billions which makes it a truly innovative company. Their product lineup is so huge!
Google maps, Blogger, YouTube, Google search engine, Gmail, Pixel smartphones and laptop, Google WiFi, Google Home, Adsense, what not!! Apple is pure evil and nothing infront of Google. This is coming from a logical guy whose first two gadgets bought were iPod touch and iPod shuffle but soon learnt they were just selling oranges at the price of Apple!
