Confirmed: Google's Pixel and Pixel XL have IP53 dust and water resistance

05 October 2016
While it's good to get the rumored spec officially acknowledged, this still doesn't live up to what the Pixels' biggest competitors can boast.

They honestly would've been better off with just releasing a 6P with updated specs. But they just had to release these ugly Pixels phones. And we thought the 6P was overpriced at launch. These new phones now cost as much as an iphone.

The front of this phone looks ugly with them massive bezels.

At this price it should have at least IP67 rating. And also a micro SD and a half decent design. The camera is the only kind of good thing about it. Not enough to warrant iPhone prices.

All phones by major manufacturers are tested to IP53. It's not advertised for a reason.

IP53 - in other words, they don't have resistance

3 means no water resistance. Just little rain. Most top phones have 4-5 protection. Some 7-8.

The phone is ugly and does not look like a premium device at all. It looks plain jane. Nexus 6P looks better. Google trying to do what Samsung and Apple do but will fail.

"dust protected and have liquid ingress protection that's effective against spraying water"
I'm pretty sure Nokia 215 has similar level of protection. At 1/15-th the price, too.

It doesn't justify the price! As a Nexus fan I've been waiting so long for this launch! One thing is sure- I won't buy this phone. I'm angry Google, and next year I won't conform to you. I don't love you anymore Google, please, please leave me alone now ;(
