The only way samsung can sell this device in india is to price it at around 50k n launch a blue color here. Otherwise chances r minimal.

glass on the back plus it is waterproof,that means it's airtight.glass is a bad conductor of heat.this thing will keep on blowing even with new batteries.though very less incidents.

Southwest Airlines flight 994 from Louisville to Baltimore was evacuated this morning while still at the gate because of a smoking Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphone. All passengers and crew exited the plane via the main cabin door and no injuries were reported

The pictures from the incident (the burnt phone; no discolouration to carpet etc, looks like different focal points taken photo), and then the later submission of a picture of the box (which doesn't look anything like my Note 7 box, but possibly a carrier specific outer packaging); confirming a Korean made unit (replacement stock was Vietnamese stuff, yes?)..
This could be a mishap with the phone company packaging the wrong unit in the 'right' outer sleeve...
It could be a flow on from Sammy diagnosing that 'some' Korean made units had the 'clean' sourced batteries, and gave the go ahead for some of the already in the sales stream phone units to be IMEI cleared as usable stock. (Believing that these units have had little issue since being sold into China)
We don't know if Samsung are doing some complex maths figuring if 'out of court' settlements are viable, but it is fair to say that numbers being posted around the net presently suggest over one million replacement units are rolled out.
-personally I accept one or two per million manufacturing faults even from the companies with exceptional product checks in place.
I do not believe that any 'attempt' to rush to market would have created this issue (or found it prior to release), and in fairness it is in such small numbers when we look at the context of millions of units.
Look at ONE MILLION of anything!
With the exception of one million grains of sand, the deviance in a million units is going to be prevalent, if not uncommon. Individual bits will fail. This has to be expected.
Rushing a few million units, then I would expect ten Dead On Arrival or Early Life Failure units per ten thousand, or effectively one dead or failing unit per one thousand.
The fact that Samsung are delivering vastly lower than this failure rate across all their product lines (including super cheap phones) shows that their quality control is decent.
I haven't lost trust in Samsung. I do expect every large scale enterprise to make key decisions favouring cost cutting and planned obsolescence. That is just modern consumeristic practice playing out.
The Note 7 is still a phone that should prove legendary for more than some bad press upon release.
It is true that this sort of press changes the wealth of nations; so lets not be sheep and mindlessly go around swaying people to 'our opinion' unless we are holistic in our approach and fair minded in our practice.
No doubt all manufacturers will take lesson from this.
The point of diminished returns when 'cheapening' the manufacturing process has a bottom that should never be touched!
