The concept looks quite interesting, but probably won't be heading to a device near you any time soon.

Foldable and rollable display already exist. Samsung made them and show them at an exhibition already. It is said to be called Galaxy X and released by 2017. So, no one is against it.

IF your phone has removable battery and if 3rd party manufacturers (like ZeroLemon) made 3x bigger, 3x higher capacity extended batteries for it, then you have a lot of runtime.

Look up and old Sci Fi series called Earth Final conflict (2002). It showed a foldable screen communicator called "Global" much like the one on the image shown above. The idea for the series was created by the late Gene Roddenberry (Creator of Star Trek)

viveksubhash, 06 Oct 2016a foldable display doesnt always need to end up being folda... moretrue, bending is more likely than foldable at full scale, maybe just one side foldable like a book might be more realistic (i think it's being made already)
only problem would be enterprises, first thing that comes to mind is gorilla glass will go down since glass can't bend like that under normal conditions so i can imagine a few companies against foldable displays XD

a foldable display doesnt always need to end up being foldable by the end user..okay..the schematics may show that..but were supposed to get a bendable display ..again from said lg..it only flexes a few mm..a great achievement in itself no doubt..but i'm more interested if the foldable tech will modify the screen's properties so that it becomes less prone to cracking when falling down

Note7, 06 Oct 2016Foldable and flexible display concepts are good but not sur... moreagreed, they'll have to find a way to make good features (for most of us at least) with foldable displays in mobiles, my opinion would be they shouldn't fold too much (more than bending though) for it to allow watching videos with better FoV (maybe) keep in mind that even the edge has a few features for now (though increasing) so give it a couple of years at least for the technology evolve enough for foldable displays in mobiles.
