[deleted post]What you are saying it is true, and it is pitty that phones do not get updated especially from moto wich makes nice design and good quality. On the other hand you must think that when you buy a product you buy it as it is with the feature it provides not with the features it will get in the future.
            Here is an example:
In store a moto phone could have :social networking, bluetooth, wifi a good camera e.tc.
A later update of the software could make the phone: better social networking, better bluetooth, wifi teether, better quality on camera or diffrent resolutions etc.
The thing is when you buy the product you buy it as it is initially advertized and the upgrades are nothing than a kind gesture to keep customers happy.
Also you must take into consideration these upgrades costs, people must be payed to code and redesign a software, nothing is done for free in this world.
I think best thing is for google to make a more colaboration and to provide upgrades for everyone by making the software easier to acomodate with sense,or blur or what ever other company decides.

[deleted post]So exactly how much you paid for your XT720 with CONTRACT? How much "discount" or "subsidy" you received from the carrier, so the phone is locked?

I paid US$434 for my XT720 unlocked, which was released in Sept where I live.

Again, did the promotional leaflet you received (back in July) specifically stated XT720 will guaranteed be upgraded to Froyo? (I know the leaflet for Droid X does) If not, how can you complain when you don't receive the FREE upgrade?

Can you go to the airline and insist be upgraded for FREE?

hopefully froyo upgrade for asian user will be just around the corner.
or Milestone 2 come preinstalled with froyo that is (even better if upgradeable to gbread) ;-) .

Here my own personal view regarding all these upgrades....

Is upgrade really CRUCIAL to the point the phone would become USELESS without it? I don't think so.

All these upgrades are "free of charge" and I treat it as bonus. Would be a "nice to have" but definitely not a "show stopper".

                    Here are couple examples:

                    - The last batch of the Moto "small" DynaTAC released around 93-94 had the battery meter, vs. none in the previous version. Anyone wanted to "upgrade" was free to pay US$2000 (no kidding!) where I live and...simply get the new one!

                    - Users of Windows Vista who were so sick of the system wanted "upgrade" could easily BUY Windows 7.

                    - Owners of 1993 Honda Civic Coupe in US wanted "upgrade" with passenger side airbag like those of 1994 could "sell" the 93 car and "buy" the 94 car.

                    - Would anyone say "I'd never fly with this airline because it never provided me any upgrade?"

Or else, can anyone share with me if there is any "free upgrade" on anything else which we can complain?

If Moto said from Day 1 XT720 would support Froyo and App2SD AFTER the upgrade, then I think we can all complain. If not, any upgrade should be treated as "bonus".

And for those who keeps saying Moto doesn't upgrade....how about other manufacturers? Do they ever upgrade their voice quality after all these YEARS?

I sold my milestone after when moto said 2.2 was still "under evaluation" while its cousin droid already had it. I can't help to feel sorry for XT720 owners. I hope this kind of arrogance will drive moto back to its slump again. Get yourself a soner or samsung or lg or whatever, because your device will most likely to be "under evaluation" or "will remain" when 2.3 is out. I believe alot of people like myself buys these moto androids because we like android, we couldn't care less about motorola.

This is the problem with android. One has to be at the complete mercy of the manufacturer as when can they receive updates. And now these manufacturer has truly gone racist.
                                why differentiate by country/ region.

This is worst than Apple. The first gen iPhone i.got upgraded to 3.13 of the iOS and the only reason it can't go any further was because the hardware can't take it anymore. It was just too old but It was supported for almost 3 years.
Moto should not do this to their customers who took them out of the hole by buying their Android products. Moto was taken out of the hole by Android fans and its the same fans who can put them back into the hole by voting with their wallets.
