They have shipment cost too but they save the marketing cost. R&D? Lol that's very clear after Note 7. Margin is quite big considering Samsung phones are more overpriced than iPhones.

Smartphones cost less than 300$ in material costs to manufacture and offering a 100$ off 700$ smartphone is a smart business move as they will still make a nice profit instead of losing a customer

In an effort to keep those Note 7 owners who will probably be swapping for another brand and to fill the void this Christmas season, Samsung should beef up the S7 Edge by adding software feature now on the Note 7 including the S-Pen and iris scanner. Case makers could make cases that that could accomodate the S-Pen.

Renato Oliveira, 13 Oct 2016I don't get it. You can't change the Note 7 for another eq... moreYou are getting the difference as well

                        I don't get it.
You can't change the Note 7 for another equally expensive phone in the Sammy line. Even the price difference between Note 7 and S7 Edge would probably be more than the USD100. Sammy is nuts, they should fully refund the user and then some.
What I really doubt is that people will ever pay over USD500 again for a phone coming from a company where the flagship is so faulty.

AnonD-507364, 13 Oct 2016No one cares about Samsung anymore... I foresee a real com... moreBoth are too expensive for what they offer. People need to realise that we're probably hitting some current technological limitation on what you can put in a smartphone. Battery power has, is and probably will be for the next few years a massive drawback and all these quick charging solutions probably aren't making batteries more reliable and safe. Bring on the graphene!

The same offer is available for Romania as well.
Orange Romania offered me the choice to buy switch to a Galaxy S7/S7 Edge with a 100E price cut or get a full refund (without any other "bonus" though, at least that's what I understood)
