Who will want to buy the almost feature-less Pixel phone that feels like a downgrade from Note series? Who wants to buy the overpriced, worst than the feature-less stock android, iphone 7 plus? Oh, well. Choosing Pixel anyday than iphone.

I registered purely to post this, but I've been following this site for a while now. In terms of finding specs and whatnot, it's a great place to follow. I've seen countless articles about the Note7 and I've mostly ignored them. They're tedious, they repeat the same thing and they give me a headache to tell you the truth. After the first ten or twenty thousand articles, I think the point has been hammered enough--less than a tenth of a percent of phones have caught fire.

"For what it’s worth, we think if you were interested in purchasing the Note7 then you should be perfectly happy with the S7 edge, sans the S Pen features (that nobody really uses past the first week anyway)"

This paragraph, for me, was the breaking point that made me bother to reply to the drivel. I'm not sure if you're trying to alleviate your own or your viewers cognitive dissonance by saying the pen wasn't used, but I disagree with the statement. The word "nobody" is an absolute; it simply isn't true that "nobody" used the pen past the first week of owning the device.

Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, your statement that you think I would be perfectly happy with the S7Edge makes me question your ability to reason. This site is seen as somewhat of an authoritative figure yet here you are making a ridiculous claim(s). I bought the Note7 for many reasons:

It delivers USB 3.1 speeds out of the USB-C port (not all USB-C phones deliver USB 3.1 speeds--it's just a connector standard)
    It is water resistant
It has an external micro SD slot
It can measure blood oxygen levels
It can be used as a portable backup device
It can be used as a portable charging device
It can unlock the phone when your gloves are on e.g. you do not have to rely on the fingerprint scanner

It is true that the S7Edge shares many features, but it lacks the most important feature--the S7Edge does not have the same USB speeds. It cannot do all what the Note7 can do, even if you ignore the pen aspect. This is an objective truth; the USB speed is ridiculously slow in comparison. Yes it is water resistant but its other features aren't up to the task. The Google Pixel is more expensive and lacks many features; it does have a comparable USB-C port but it's not water resistant, it lacks a microSD card slot, etc.

Excluding the fact the Note7s have been deemed as faulty and there's a fire risk, it's the only phone with all the features I need. If I'm wrong, by all means point me to a single device on the market right now that is water resistant, can deliver USB 3.1 speeds via a USB-C port, has a micro SD card slot, has Gorilla Glass 5, can measure blood oxygen levels, and can be used as a portable charging device.

Some of these features may sound like a gimmick. I'll explain where they can be used in real world use. I own a Sony a7rII, it creates 82MB RAW photographs. Next year I am hiking 2650+ miles across the Pacific Crest Trail in Northern America (you can read more about that at my site, http://preview.tinyurl.com/gt3belt) and I need a device that's lightweight. Dedicated portable backup solutions are expensive. I need something that can with stand being dropped in water momentarily. Blood oxygen level meters are useful if you're at high altitude. Being able to clone SD cards is useful. Being able to unlock the phone when I'm extremely cold at night and wearing thick gloves is useful. Being able to charge my watch from the USB port is useful. Writing quick notes with the pen, when my hands are too cold to type properly, is quite useful. The list goes on, and I realise I fit a niche that others perhaps don't fit into, but if you're going to make blanket statements, generalisations or absolute claims, then they should be absolutely correct.

I'm not a fan of Samsung and it's the first Samsung phone I've bought. I don't have any emotional attachment to any big companies; I believe they'd all behave dishonourably if they were allowed to. I buy the product that seems the best at the time. However, I think Samsung have been hammered somewhat unjustifiably for this. When the original Apple iPhone's were catching fire, I don't remember a single airline company banning the device from their planes. I think social media escalates situations and behaves somewhat like a judge, jury and executioner all in one. Occasionally this is good and can be useful but sometimes I think it causes more harm than good.

Lastly, I may have found a reason as to why the Note7's are catching fire. I understand the platelets are bent in some phones (an Xray can prove this quite easily) but I also believe I've found another fault. Trying to contact a Samsung technician is proving to be difficult.

Too late Samsung India. It took you 2 months to give a response to Samsung users like me in India. Looks like we are taken for granted. So S7 Edge am sure would not work on Nougat.. that will take another 5 months am sure and yeah why do US customers get responses and recalls so soon. SAMSUNG INDIA hate the customer care and whats the point coming up with stupid offers and actually letting people know that Samsung India actually exists. Samsung India seems more like the underpriveleged cluster of Samsung which is not taken care of or is there for a namesake. Sorry but this seems to be a reality. Dissapointing!!! No retailer has had no word from you guys over the past two months! You just lost a loyal customer. Learn someting from Samsung Usa or other countries rather than being a dummy cluster.

Its like they forgot that the thing isn't freakin reliable at all! Not to mention the performance issues reported by XDA and its slower than the year old iphone 6.

Please make polls or at least done research about the use of the S Pen. I for one buy only Galaxy Note because I draw and take notes of my to thoughts.

Of some 2825 who responded to a survey, only some 35.29% answered showing off the S Pen and never use it again. The rest do use the S Pen.

When I have the urge to sketch, the S Pen is there, ready to be used. Here's something I did using the Note7:

                                  http://flic.kr/p/LDq5w6

S7 Edge is pretty good, however, it's wrong to underestimate the S Pen as a very useful tool.
