Bezels not welcome: Xiaomi Mi Note 2 coming October 25

17 October 2016
Spy shots show the screen is bordered by the thinnest bezels possible. Here's hoping.

Hahaha, seriously??? These new "leaked" photos look more like a joke to me; more like someone snapped some printed images between a glass and a frame. Other than the fact that this object has nothing to do with the renders we have seen before, you can see the paper slightly edging out of the glass on the first picture (top-left where the time is dispalyed) and both of them look like printed paper; no backlight coming from the "screen" at all :P

And I do realise the 3S'es are not successors, they are just minor changes, versions, or iterations. Heck a later one turns out not always better in some cases.

Redmi 3 series is just one example, digging the database easily reveals more.

Redmi 3 and Redmi 3 Pro actually are the same phone, they share the same official rom. So there is not so much fragmentation... The same thing happens for Redmi 3s / 3s Pro / 3x. One more rom for those 3 together.

P.S: The 3s wasn't really a planned successor of Redmi 3, but just a necessary condition caused by Snapdragon 616 supply sortages.

AnonD-265255, 17 Oct 2016Screen is close to Sharp's phone of Jun-2015... http://www.... moreYeah, but that wasn't really good spec wise, and still really expensive.
Now the Mi note 2 will be expensive as well, but at least the specs are good.

SpyC, 17 Oct 2016So what? Do you want a phone at Note 2 launch? You buy Note... moreHi there,
It's true that majority of people buy phone whenever they need to. On the other hand, Xiaomi's seeming tendency to release those upgrades in quick succession (even shorter than half-yearly cycle) should be questionable. For example, see how many Redmi 3 versions out there.
Will all of them get taken care of well in terms of upgrades?
If someone gonna say that this practice provide prospective buyers with choices to match their needs, then why not announce & release them at the same time?
The way they do it now, the original (and most likely the weakest) can enjoy its msrp and some popularity, getting some good amount of sales, before getting relegated by better versions. Had Xiaomi release them together, I suspect the weaker versions would not get much attention nor sales. Why? Because the better versions also come at bargain price albeit slightly higher, people would just pick the top of the line.
What would all this result in? Perhaps Xiaomi would be left with more unsold stocks i.e of the weaker versions, where they could not price those even lower than current pricing due to already very very thin margin.

Let's just say, smart move by Xiaomi.
Some people who follow might spot this pattern and wait out.
But perhaps most people are really like what you said, they don't care about this practice and pick the offers available now and be happy with it. Nobody's crying.
                    ;)

makes you wonder why they dont show the bottom bezel. there has been a tablet with small top/side bezel before and it had one huge bottom bezel. also makes you wonder if it is even good to have such a small bezel, because it makes it harder to comfortable hold the device without your hand overlapping the screen.
