Same again with Adreno 510 gpu used in the SnapD650/652.
I bet there will "zero %" performance increase when run the Geekbench "1080p offscreen" test.
Actually who still remember that Adreno 510 was leverage design from Adreno 330 and the benchmark never lie to tell both of them was on same performance matrix.
..Adreno 510 =~ Adreno 330..
but at least manage cut the price cost to half of Adr330 and selling most of the
phone for market segment $200-$250 for this year.(example:RedM Note3)
Will Qualcomm able to sell this SnapD 653 half of the price than SnapD 650 by Q1 next year?
Hoping that by next year the middle range price will fall down to $110-$150?
Will they dare to do it ???
I don't think so...at last we consumer get screwed again and again by their re branding trick.

HutHutHut, 18 Oct 2016I wonder whether all these new chips are fabricated using t... moreLOL, after looking at SD653, SD626, & SD427 specs, nothing new except faster LTE chip, dual-camera support, and support for bigger RAM, the rest are THE SAME AS PREVIOUS SERIES, with a bit overclock.
SD427: still produced under 28nm architecture and still equpped with the same CRAPPY Adreno 308
SD626: official name MSM8953 Pro. Means, just another revision of SD625. Still built on 14nm architecture, still using CRAPPY Adreno 506 which barely handle 1080p games. The only thing that got revised is the CPU, getting overclocked to 2.2GHz.
Like I said in other post, SD625 is Qualcomm's way of challenging "the renown" Helio X10, with the same Octa-core, clocked at the same 2GHz.
While SD626 is Qualcomm's answer to Helio X10 Turbo, with the same octa-core, clocked at the same 2.2GHz.
Hahaha, with this fact, now we know that Qualcomm feels really bitter of the SD810 HUGE FAILURE, which in turns made Helio X10 HUGE SUCCESS, and those grudge is shown with the release of this SoC.
The last,
SD653: official name MSM8976 Pro. AGAIN, just another revision of SD652, build at the same good, ol' 28nm fabrication. Similar with SD626, SD653 still use Adreno 510 with no improvement whatsoever. Again, the only thing that get revised is the CPU, the 4core A72 clocked @ 1.95GHz and the 4core A53 clocked @1.44GHz.
Means, NOT WORTH BUYING, as it's practically SD652 on steroid...
So, the BIG QUESTION is, WTF is wrong with Qualcomm recently?
Using Cortex A73 in their SD653 should be the right choice, so why still toying with A72?
What's more, building the next mid-range SoC in the good ol' 28nm for 2017?
U think people will buy that crap?
They are not MediaTek, whose goal is to create a GREAT SoC for CHEAP. They have resource and money, so why not upping the fabrication to 20nm or 14nm?
In any case, as long as they use 28nm, the heat generated by 2GHz 4core cortex A72 should be high, and I HOPE this SoC will be the NEXT SD810.
Sucks for u, Qualcomm, manufacturer will most likely stay with SD650/652 & SD625 option for a longer while...

Most of them still on the 28nm old technology which hurts battery life, when Samsung already begun building 10nm technology...no thanks.

I wonder whether all these new chips are fabricated using the older 20 nm process ? Or have Qualcomm moved to the 14 nm structure for their midrange chips like Samsung ? All Qualcomm's previous generation chips overheated - so it will be interesting to see how these perform.

Marginal updates.. I was expecting more.
But maybe this is the logical decision..
SoCs have improved greatly during the last 2 years. A Snapdragon 653 built on 14/16 or even 20 nm could be so powerful that it would hurt the sales of the higher-end SoCs.

This total BS from Qualcomm...iM sorry gsma...I have to say it is BS...
This all minor tiny upgrade and also zero% GPU improvement....they fool the middle range customer again with zero effort on the improvement and nobody care about LTE modem with new speed.
An excuse for them to sell back backlog stock chipset.

Was expecting the next generations of mid range Snapdragon by the end of December, but instead we're getting this crap near the end of the year with same A72 cores, same old 28nm process with same Adreno 510. I just hope Galaxy A9 2017, Redmi Note 4 and Sony won't be using this SOC.
Hopefully Qualcomm will announce SD 662 or whatever name they'll be using soon with at least A72 if not A73 cores on 14nm process and Adreno 515.

10% improvement isn't worth at all. Most smartphone manufacturers will use this mid range chipset and set a flagship price like Asus. Still waiting for the snapdragon 830.
