I think the one obvious thing is that they will make sure MeeGo will run on their processors too. Maybe GPU support too?
The car groups are building an IVI system (In-Vehicle Infotainment) on top of MeeGo. It will do things like all kinds of media playback, integrated navigation and basically provide computing platform for the software your car manufacturer or some third party wants offer.
I think it will also contain somesort of safeguards for driver distractions, so that you won't get killed play angry birds while driving. Basically the future of your car stereo ;)

[deleted post]Well, theres a Mozilla browser on the Nokia n900 and BMW is also working for Nokia's Meego...so BMW and Mozilla hae something to do with Nokia...
And yes Nokia sucks, and with meego, it will suck the smartphone market so hard, that only a few will stand a chance to survive.

Android has an extremely superficial version of linux. I t does NOT have the capability to run full-fleged linux apps like maemo or meego does. also, it doesn't have full java, flash, or open gl support like maemo or meego does.
and the best part of meego is, they will support 100% of symbian apps... which means combined, they will possibly have the single LARGEST market for apps. And being built on HTML 5 and QT is probably the most outstanding platform they could build on.

But, it also isn't just BMW. The GENIVI Alliance behind MeeGo consists of these companies:
-BMW Group
-Delphi (146,600 employee automotive part company, Biggest GM supplier)
-GM
-Intel
-Magneti Marelli (Fiat Groups's hightech Subsidiary)
-PSA Peugeot Citroën
-Visteon (similar to Delphi, but to Ford Motor Company)
-Wind River Systems, Inc. (Intel subsidiary)
A huge part of the auto industry is already behind this.

Also, it has always been just the kernel. To understand the difference between MeeGo and Android, you have to understand that there are loads of other things on top of the kernel that actually make it a full operating system. There is the command shell, windowing system, audio system, all the tools and utilities etc. that together create operating system.
Android doesn't have the software stack that makes linux beyond the forked kernel. MeeGo does. It is basically a linux distribution, like Red Hat or Ubuntu. MeeGo can take advantage of the programs that already exist for linux. You could run things like Open Office, Gimp, VLC and thousands of more apps that are among the best even on desktops.

For these reasons MeeGo will also give back to the Linux community on far greater level. Saying Android and MeeGo are both Linux is bit like saying cows (when equipped with catapults) and birds can both fly ;)

Maemo was part Linux so you could say that Maemo and Android are similar but Meego is 100% Linux. The same things that work on Linux, works on Meego AND the apps between Symbian and Meego can be transferred between the two meaning that with Meego being the Same Linux thats on TONS of devs cpu's, it already has loads of apps from old to new. AND it will be MUCH easier to program for than Android. Everything that works on Linux will work on Meego meaning even Android since it's coded in Linux will work on Meego. Android is a very good OS though but Meego may just be better once released. We'll havw to wait and see.

haha who said android is better? wat did you do to come up to this conclusion? on paper, MEEGO KILLS every os out there. And the best part is, everyone knows its the most capable and powerful OS cause it has the number one phone producer + number chip maker + number one web browsning producer + number one luxury auto maker in on the project. You GOT that you hating A$$ b|tches? NOKIA + INTEL + MOZILLA + BMW = technilogical WARFARE. This is gonna open doors that android, bb os, bada, and all that other garbage never KNEW existed. And the best part is, its gonna hit those companies in the face like lead bricks with Carbon steel Nails in them!

Nokia are now showing they are willing to compete in any market,any have really been catching up well,this meego tablet will be made available in 2011,an Apple an Samsung thought nobody else would compete with them,Symbian3 as not been a Failure at All an with further updates it will really get alot better,like to see Nokias first Meego Smartphone as this is going be there next Top Class Smartphone an hope its not going to get delayed alot like the N8 did
