Anonymous, 20 Oct 2016And the performance is on point also, right? Wrong! For sure you can't compare phones from 2013 & 2016 but still you will be able to use all or most features of the latest ver of the apps. You can't get the same if you are using kitkat or lower. BTW you are talking to C5 Ultra user :)

RickGH, 20 Oct 2016What about people who would buy it in 2019, because I'm sur... moreApple provides updates for 4 years. Google being the owner of the OS they should also do like that if they are pricing phones and copying the design exactly like apple.
2 years is ridiculous .. YES !!!
u r saying people will buy this phone in 2019 ??? .. lmao ..how old r u ???
yeh .last year's nexus 5x and 6p has already been stopped from selling and u expect google to sell these pixels till 2019 ???? ... ROFL !!!

I'm having a really hard time considering these latest Android phones a decent buy. 3 years of security updates is a far cry from the 5 years I would consider a bare minimum. Microsoft provides 10+ years of security updates for Windows versions and you can easily have on your phone data that is even more sensitive than that from your Windows system. The idea that you have to buy a new $600 phone every 3 years and throw away the old one (whose value is close to 0 without security updates) is ridiculous. I've never owned an Apple product and hate the general direction of that company but I look at how long they support their devices and how free from Google's painfully intrusive services their devices are and I just hate how everyone else is utterly incapable of building a pocket PC that is anywhere close to competing with these 2 bad choices.

I would believe that Google has enough clout to get the updates for more than 2 years if they pushed the matter with companies like Qualcomm.

So Google phones also get 2 years of updates and other manufacturer phones - lg, samsung, HTC, etc etc .. will also give 2 years of guranteed updates .... so whats the advantage of buying these boring stock android phones ??????
First it was cheap (nexus line) .. now thats gone with ridiculous pricing for pixel and now updates only for 2 years ??????
waste of money ... if there are no updates and u have to stick with this boring phones for 2 years !!!! Better get samsung with loaded features which also give 2 years of updates .. but will have more features out of box than "future pixel phone that will be released 2 years later" .. lol !!

Ksc6000, 20 Oct 2016This is pathetic. Why can't they support their own phone fo... moreHonestly, it's just not that easy for Google to get major OS updates any longer than 2 years because they rely on the SOC Manufacturer (in this case Qualcomm) to provide driver updates for their SOCs. If the SOC doesn't get any driver updates past 2 years they won't allow Google to port their latest OS . It's a different story for Apple because their SOC is custom made for iOS, therefore support is granted for at least 3 years. However don't expect fluid performance after that time, just ask those iPhone 5 owners using iOS 10. At least any Google branded device gets better with every OS update.
