Kodak Ektra: an Android-powered rebirth of a camera legend

20 October 2016
A 21MP main camera with OIS and a 13MP selfie cam bring the Ektra name from the 1940s into the digital world. Nostalgia aplenty.

Well...it will probably be just a novelty, rather than a decent device. I'll probably have a look at it (just out of curiosity) once it will hit the shops in December, but I can't see this sell in millions. Photos don't look all that impressive. They've been downsized and processed, but still...

P.S. Please, please stop buying objects that contain real leather. Stop the killing of beautiful, innocent animals juat so you can buy a product and use it a limited amount of time. Have some compassion and love for every living being, specially for animals!

Samples actualy doesn't look good, and no way better than any other smartphone picture sample. The real lens looks ordinarly tiny, so why they put that big round thing around the lens?

What I really want is a APS-C size camera with a 35mm prime lens on a flagship smartphone. (Maybe they can include secondary wide angle camera with smaller sensor for casual shooting) that way I can always carry around a high end camera that can make use of high end mobile cpus instead of cheap ones inside most cameras. It will be a little bit thick but I will buy that in a heartbeat.

No xenon? Somy 21mp? Sounds like another 1/2.3 or 2.5 inch sensor and at this time f2.0 is decent but decent at best. Especially for what is probably only 1.12um pixels.

Seriously? So it will basically only be decent for daylight shots.

Come on kodak. Larger sensor. Larger pixels, brighter aperture, xenon flash.

More junk from a has been company.
When one buys a "smart" device powered with an OS like Android, one will be expecting patches and software updates. When the last time Kodak deals with software? Thought so.
Panasonic tried this, didn't work. Heck, even Samsung tried it, and dumped it. If you want to put a smart OS into your device, you better behave like a software company, and Kodak won't cut it.

That helio x20 is no good at video recording. So their best bet is only the photograph capability.
