I've seen reports on other websites and have a different cost understanding that makes this a good offer. The full retail cost of a S7/S7 edge is currently $700/$800. Samsung discounts 50% so $350/$400 to be paid off at upgrade date. Your monthly payments are taken off that balance. The number of months until you upgrade could be 5 with a S8 in March or possibly 10 with Note 8 in August. Nobody can foresee the exact release dates yet. Assume you pay on average $30/month. That would be $150-$300 off your $350/$400 balance. You keep the S7 and assume a new payment schedule with the upgrade date. It's better than the current $100 discount if you still plan on getting any of Samsung's new models next year. I like the option.

Here is the problem I have, it's all this hope news and there is nothing as yet on the problem.
So with the Note series being a tweaked 'Edge' I believe the Note series is finished.

The Note 8 can't go forward without an explanation of why there was these fire, I expect one maybe two will be fraudulent

What I hope won't happen is that Samsung if confirmed the Note series is dead just doesn't provide an explanation for the fire, the only explanation is from independent consumer safety bodies

I have returned my Note 7 and still no refund... so disappointed

So, if I'm reading this correctly, and this program gets rolled out here in the US, it would be a 50% discount, plus the cost of any payments made up to that time on your carrier's program (appx $200). You'd still be paying more than 75% for the device. And... you can bet your carrier isn't going to just roll over and handle it for nothing.

At the risk of asking a stupid question does this article effectively confirm there will be a Note 8 phone? There were rumours going around saying Samsung were going to kill off the Note brand completely a couple of weeks ago. Now what confuses me more is there is already a Note 8 tablet, so I don't see them releasing a phone with the same name. I can believe the S8 but not a Note 8. So is the name just wrong or is it an assumption that will possibly not come to pass?

If samsung really care about their customers they must take action against these kids nd of people who is spoiling the brand name.
