So the replacement S7 or S7 Edge is at a cost to the customer. Am I understanding this correctly, that the customer that paid for his or her Note 7, is required to pay 50% of the cost of a replacement device? So it’s the customer's fault that the Note 7 is a grenade that is just waiting to go off.
That has to be the worst thing I have ever heard. Samsung you are very very poor at maintaining your customers. I honestly have had a Samsung phone since the S3 till now. And I maybe switching to another Brand of device in the near future. I'm also very fortunate that the Note7 was not available in my region as yet before you discontinued it. Because I would have been trapped in this vicious circle that you have created.
Shame on you Samsung, this is what customer loyalty gets you these days.

Im sorry Samsung, no more Samsung . I am going for Google Pxl . Your customer service gave me hard time for the Note 7 refund . I have been a loyal Samsung customers for years and i have used all your note variants. I live in Dubai and i am still sitting blind. My phone is with Samsung service centre and i have made 9 follow up calls and yet no update . One of the service agent told me to goto any of Samsung outlet with the service receipt and get refund or exchange. And when i approach service centre , the shop manager literally ask me to go back as they have no such update yet from Samsung even though i have told him several times that i came here as i got call from the Samsung service centre . He dint even bother to call Samsung authorities, finally i have used my phone to call the service centre back and yet ask me to wait for few more days for further updates. Its been 3 weeks and im still waiting and i cant goto store directly for refund as the phone is with the service centre as i have got a defective device . Such a pathetic service from Samsung . Enough is Enough..!!!

Base on the post above, "During the upgrade, customers will only have to shell out 50% of the cost of their Galaxy S7 device."
Think about this. If S7 price is 1,000 USD, the customer needs to shell out additional 500 USD (50%) to be able to upgrade to S8. The total cost would be 1,500 USD. Expecting that the price of S8 would be 1,200 USD max (which would be impossible as the price of S7 when it came out in the market has the same price as note7), comparing the "so-called upgrade program" to buying S8 without the "so-called upgrade program", is it wise to avail the program? I don't think so.
Just a thought.

Samsung I have no intentions of upgrading my phone every year. Why make me pay another 50% of Note8 next year when I just want one working this year? If you are genuinely sorry than make the upgrade for FREE and consider the Galaxy S7 used now as the loaner until you can clean up your act.

So let me get this. You pay $800 for a S7 Edge now and in 6 months you pay $400 to trade in your S7 Edge for S8. So now you have a S8 and you paid a total of $1200 for it

Samsung is going to recover the money they lost with Note 7 from customers, so new Galaxy S8 will cost around $1000 USD.

In Korea you pay the total device cost over a period of 2 years or however long you want to pay it grin 1 to 3 years. So essentially you pay for half the phone and they wipe off the remainder. You would've caught it if you actually read the article.

Samsung Myanmar doesn't offer much options.
They give credit only 50$ for an exchange of S6 Edge.
No option to exchange with other Samsung phones.
Also they don't refund for the Note7 accessories which is disappointing as I spent 45$ for clear cover.
Very poor service of Samsung Myanmar as they don't practise International standard of recall in Myanmar.
For the moment I go back to my Note5 and wait for Note8.

I think you got it backwards. You get full refund for the exploding note 7,and only pay 50% of s7/s7 edge. That's a deal of you ask me.

At this point, one could assume S8 or the Note 8 would cost nothing below $650. Pushing things further, one could easily assume they would not cost below $500 or $400. If it's an upgrade program they'd want to promote, for $650 I'd be willing to bet both S8 and Note 8 won't have user-replaceable batteries. Until Samsung gets to read this, they won't be getting any hints and won't be able to surprise me. If they do, they just might get an idea to leave all possible assumptions mentioned above debunked and I could be owing them $650 for a user-replaceable battery S8 and another $650 for a Note 8 with such feature, that is, if the Note line would still be alive by then of course
