I just had my HTC M8 fall in the bathtub for 3-5 seconds. I dried it off, hair dryer and rice and two days later its perfect. It never set off the LDI.

Even though Google couldn't match the features of the other most premium phones, they still are charging the price. Pretty bogus.

It's not water resistant because the company that made the device doesn't have any water resistant devices. The HTC 10 was IP53 and so is the Pixel.

ran out of time? what a lame excuse.. they probably want to shed some manufacturing cost without reducing the price

Why is such a hype because of waterproofing? I had Defy for two years, didn't submerge it once. I have Nexus 4 for over 3 years, my kid submerged it once (no case used), I dried it out an -voila! - it's working again. I have Moto X for 2 years, didn't submerge it once.
For those who needs full grade protection - you need to have a case on the phone no matter what IP is used. For causal usage, it does not make any difference at all.
Besides, Pixel was tested for submersibility - and it survived.

Google is a software company and they are poor in hardware design. They should acquire HTC to be part of Google to strengthen the smartphone design.

They didn't get time to release a finished product yet they had the time to still rip you off full price (overpriced) for it!

Due to their time crunch, I will not be purchasing this Pixel. Looking forward to seeing if Google have enough time for their Pixel next year.

Samsung also had "time crunch" reason for exploding Note 7's. Stop releasing shit just for the sake of releasing shit. Why is there a need for phone release every god damn year?

AnonD-601962, 25 Oct 2016Time crunch?!? What b.s. from Google. They were able to mak... moreNexus 6 had Motorola as in charge of hardware and they had the required know how inplace.
But in Pixel Google was fully in charge and HTC was merely executing the Design as per Google's guidelines.
May be we can expect better in next iteration of Pixels.
