So they just admitted to making a half-baked product, then. What's the point in getting these phones now, when you can definitely expect better build quality and full water protection, next year?

Tourettes Guy, 25 Oct 2016It doesn't even take 8 hours to put waterproof adhesives in... moreLMAO you have no understanding on how manufacturing works poor logic on your part

[deleted post]lol, now count these 8 hours for all pixels and sum it, you will see that golgle will not be able to prepare production that fast for launch. Also these pones would need to go through test again to check waterproof test. I dont care, ip 53 is just enough, wait next year and you will see waterproofness.

Time crunch?!? What b.s. from Google. They were able to make the Nexus 6 water resistant back in 2014.

I was hoping to get note 7 and i don't think I'll go for pixel instead. I've no interest in it at all to be precise. Its just an iphone with android from my point of view.

Because the HTC 10 is not.
Come on, this is not too hard to guess no? Google wants a new Nexus, HTC made one for them from existing things they have done, and at that time, HTC's flagship is not waterproof, and nobody knew that the major flagships (S7 and iPhone 7) would be waterproof. Simple as that. I'm sure next year's version will be as waterproofing will be expected for a phone at that price point.

I know it's not related but here it Pixel cinematic camera images unedited https://youtu.be/s_9wIbcqRUo

Seriously for all the years water resistance has not been that important overall. Touch splash resistance is just fine. Hell mine doesn't have either right now but is fine when it gets a little wet. Love Pixel, it's gorgeous. Full of character, solid great camera and artificial intelligence. Just excellent inside and out, top to bottom.

Well, water-proofing will make for a good selling point for the Pixel's successor.

They thought people will buy it like hot pancakes at a huge price lol. No waterproof and no SD Card = NO way!
What baffled me is the design. So ugly! Don't they test the prototype on a number of people to see if they like it? Or they got greedy and asked some monkeys if they like the design lmao
Frankly I was expecting more in therms of esthetics form Google..
By the way, these are the best phones with waterproof and SD Card: http://m.gsmarena.com/results.php3?nRamMin=3000&nIntMemMin=32000&sFreeText=snapdragon%20820&sAvailabilities=1&sIPCerts=1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9&sOSes=2&idCardslot=1

Funny cause they had plenty of time to decide to make it overpriced

Without water proof it's costing in 77/-INR
Imagine what if pixel had water proof it would have costed 90k/--

High priced overrated piece of mid range phones

That's a bit hard to believe... So, 9 months ago, when the Google/HTC designers sat down at a table to discuss what their boss's want, they ignored the waterproofing feature, right?

When designing something, you always make prototypes, and you also test if there are any downsides/leaks inside the hardware...

Don't tell me that you had no time to make those tests and design a waterproof hardware...I just can't believe that... That would've been the first thing to design when talking about the phone's overall look.

                                Joke:
Google Pixel S and Pixel XLS coming out next year with waterproof body!
(Sorry, couldn't resist not to say it :D)

Instead of high priced Google pixel phone.....I will choose s7edge or iPhone 6plus....with out water and dust price... Google phones are over priced

It doesn't even take 8 hours to put waterproof adhesives in the body. And it was 9 months since January to prepare the device yet you're giving us this trash? No thanks Google. We'd like to see you bring back the Nexus lineup

Huh time crunch yeah Google? Can't be clean enough to say this was first iteration and no way you would start with waterproofing...
