Full Definition of innovation
1: the introduction of something new
This is definitely not new.
I'm not discounting Xiaomi here, I'm simply correcting the misguided fanboys in thinking that this is innovation. The phone itself looks great.

Good luck seeing this Xiaomi in the western market. Even in Asia, Xiaomi has limited availability and only released very few models compared to China. Many people that have Xiaomi phones are gray market ones.

AnonD-428442, 25 Oct 2016Will they employ the same technology used by Sharp Aquos ph... moreit is innovation ive siad this before innovation is not about something being done before but the execution apple's "innovation" the touch screen phone touch screens were out long before the first iphone was made even on other devices but it is the execution by the way they never hide the speakers they are using the similar technology like the sharp aquous crystal
it is still innovation for xiaomi since they went another step further in using a ceramic body that specially tailored for soundwaves this is one of those few cases where the hardware of the body itself has real purpose(other than durability) and not just design and they went even more ahead and redesigned the proximity sensor to use sound instead of infrared that is something sharp didnt do and lastly the screen to body ratio is a world record that is innovation in itself if you ask me hell ven a 50% smaller camera sensor at the front can be considered innovation
if you think innovation is about who did it first its time you educate yourself some more, i guess all your were looking into was the screen design thats narrow vision

Julliard, 25 Oct 2016I agree. All these people screaming "Wow, that Xiaomi innov... moreA reply to all mentioning the Sharp Aquos Crystal:
It is not about who is the first without the top bezel. It is about being the first delivering a fully fledged smartphone, with top of the line specs, a marvelous execution of a side- and top bezel-less design. Xiaomi dared doing it in a profound way and with gusto, while they're at it. Sharp missed the mark in many ways, while Xiaomi has created something truly special, hence the current hype worldwide. Having no top bezel doesn't mean you're the first, it merely proves you've performed a trick. Creating a complete product, like Xiaomi has done with the Mi Mix, is a true statement and should only be applauded.

The phone is killer...
However, here the people clearly show that
1.) they can't read
2.) they can't comprehend/understand it
3.) they can't overcome their preconceptions
4.) they form an opinion of something they have never even touched
They read that the phone has a gigantic screen = it must be huge!
Reality = it has roughly the same dimensions, a normal 5.5 phone has.
It is a concept, Xiaomi is a B-player, it will be uncomfortable, etc., etc. Huh???
Could you please... use the damn phone and THEN feel entitled to say something useful about it!
These posts/people are similarly useful to those who are trying to describe the taste & smell of a durian without ever seeing one...

6.4 inch, 2040x1080 pixel, Snapdragon 821, and the 256GB model with 6GB of RAM ... this is by far the most devastating Android device to date.
Is it China bound only ?

I would give this concept phone a go! Dunno if it'll support the LTE GSM bands for the US, but for something this cool maybe 3G is enough ;-)

AnonD-587428, 25 Oct 2016I was replying to the comment about the Aquos, unlike the M... moreThat is a problem Sharp has yet to have a workaround for but Xiaomi cleverly outdid them as evident on their Mi MIX. I have been praising the Aquos Crystal and Xx line until I saw and learnt of this Mi MIX. However, I was mainly pointing out how Sharp lacks the potential prowess in marketing such line of phones outside Japan. It just happens to be now that there is at least one company that will sell phones with virtually borderless display globally. Both Mi MIX and Mi Note 2 touch the premium segment of smartphones but well budgeted as value for money phones, which I have always been commending from and have always continued to admire about Xiaomi. Also, none haven't been close to 91.3% StBr which should be an industry first. And for those arguing about its resolution, QHD is not so premium in between an FHD and a 4K display resolution such that both have been made available in the market, the latter in the form of Z5 Premium. I wouldn't mind Xiaomi skipping QHD until major smartphone players are in the bandwagon of mass-producing 4K phones some time in the future

Fantastic looking... would love to handle one, I worry about sound in call and false touch events on the sides, if they have that covered then really stunning phone.
I wonder how they implemented the the proximity sensor...
