I'm one of the proud users of Note7. Continuing using it at 60% charge capacity! Now I had to charge the phone twice a day. Yesterday I have got a message that Samsung is going steps to stop using of unreturned Note7 from 19 December 2016... Surprising!!!
It really hurts me like thousands of Note7 lovers worlwide...
My question to Samsung is... how many Note7 was exploded after limiting charge to 80% or even 60%? Is Battery the main issue of Note7 or something else?
It's Not always easy to return phone with proper document and there are many countries where Note7 were Not sold officially.
In such case how to return or exchange Note7??
My suggestion is... please wait till release of Note8. Once new version is available in Samsung Showroom, old Note7 can be returned at any authorised centre and give a new version Note8.
Exchanging S7 Edge with Note7 is not preferable by me. In Bangladesh Samsung Note7 was Not officially sold off. So please let us continue using Note7 at at least 60% charge capacity.
Please instruct all Samsung authorised sales centre to accept Original Note7 without any Document and exchange with Note8.

AnonD-351265, 26 Oct 2016I couldn't suggest if ram was to blame but the phone does h... moreIt was caused by several faults. I found out what they were, and I've since returned the phone.

All charging states end up with a trickle charge and it causes plating which can equate to a greater chance of shorting which means fire. It's more complicated than that, but Samsung doesn't care, this site only wants to be insulting and the people in the comment section write drivel.

Yes, my Note7 was updated today without my concern although I put the auto update option off. Now I can charge its battery upto 60% only. Earlier it was 80% that was more or less sufficient for me for a whole day work.
My suggestion to Samsung is that they can disable the function of Fast-charging which may be safer for its battery, if they are really worried about! At 80% charge only, the Battery has by no means any chance to explode if it is charged in Normal mode, I trust.
When I was using my Note7, I have experienced that there is No heat-up issue. I'm quite confused if there are really any issue in the Battery of Note7.
I will be happy to know finally that it's Not a Sino-American conspiracy against Korean techno-giant Samsung... to turnish their dominance and image in smartphone business!.
When compared with iPhone7 Plus of my friend, it was clearly revealed that there could not be any comparison between Note7 and iPhone7 Plus, because Note7 was by far the best smartphone or phablet in the world now.

my phone has limit to 60% charge now. this update without my permission. and this also mean samsung can override any permission and take charged on our phone. even virtually make iurvphone dead or access any Info we hold in our phone. this is ridiculous. i hope I can sue samsung on this but not put me in danger for risk of battery. just think how many "bomb" on the road? each modern car minimum carry one "air bag" especially the Tamara one. what wrong if I take up the risk? unless samsung giving more convincing phone which is equivalent to note 7 or better otherwise no point for me.

I get its a fast charge system
But I play airsoft(B&B guns) they have lipos I usr a fast chsrge system with them were they full charge in about 1hour 30min I had 2 in a bag right next to propane gas bottles about 3-4 at 700ml each because the pistols use gas insted of batteries, and I got to say i aint really that worried, truned push updates off things are great.
              Less than 100 have exploded
2.5 million sold the math is somthing like 0.0032% chance of it exploding, think I well take my chances rather take my chances than have a iPhone with 3 year old tech in it or if i could get the mi mix xiaomi I would but it's pay up front that's going to be a future phone thats brought out now

Yes you will get your money back and the option to pick something else but the fact of the matter is no other phone can do what the Note 7 does regardless of what reviewers or users claim, functionally its just superior to anything else, and I'm saying this as an iPhone user of many years. When Samsung releases a viable successor only then will there be an alternative that can stand up to it.

Anyone who still has this phone is crazy..Note 7 is DOA and will never receive updates or support from Samsung..The only support you will get is from a wannabe Dev on XDA who releases buggy Roms..Have fun with your cursed Nope 7..

i remember when i said a 60% charge limit is set some sammy fanboys attacked me.

This whole issue is to do with charging the battery too quickly, also the Samsung chargers which have the quick charge just double the voltage going to the lipo cell (about 9v) for a duration until the phone sences the battery temperature go through the roof and then gives the battery 4.2v with a high ish current until again the current drops off and charging stops.
                              In theory.

they still talking about it cause i still have mine.lol rumors are that samsung is also discounting the true die hard note 7 fans with a 60% cut off there s 8 / note 8 line.i believe there starting in europe and hopefully makes it to the us.but when i called my carrier about turning mine in, they told me if its not blown up, just keep it till or if it does. then come get a new phone.they said there wernt many cases of the 2nd shipment of note7's catching fire...heres how i look at it.i get the best os the best phone, then someone tells me to turn it in and get 2nd best...not happening.my wife has the s7 and loves it.but the note still offers more.

Imperator Neubaticus, 26 Oct 2016Makes you wonder whether samsung shouldn't have discontinue... moreIf my theories are correct that it's related to crashing, it stands to reason that the faulty phones where crashes were present, would have been happily returned. No one wants to use a phone that crashes all the time. Those with a fully functional device would be less inclined to return the phone.

At the moment I don't have the data to be able to give complete confirmation, and everyone's calling me an idiot or an arsonist for keeping the phone, so I'm just going to get my money back. I don't mind helping out Samsung by diagnosing issues, but to be called a criminal just because I chose to keep my device for testing purposes, that's pretty disgusting.
