Apple iPhone sales keep slowing down, holiday season might turn things around

26 October 2016
Apple has had three consecutive down quarters now.

Sort by:

Expected. All they had to do was shake up the design a bit this time around. They're getting really lazy in Cupertino. Let's hope the iPhone 8 is a killer. It sure sounds like it's gonna be!

Anonymous, 26 Oct 2016Yes top notch phones that married with lag. Lol.F..king lagging again, its getting boring now, I have an S7 since last March and nothing is lagging on this phone. It runs smooth like I dont know what. Display and camera are great. Maybe the cheaper Samsungs lag but not the flagships.

I bought a black iPhone 7 shortly because I was curious to know what was so special about this Iphone and I can say, nothing is special about it. Its actually annoying me, signal is bad sometimes, camera sometimes takes ages to start, it lags when you go through the menu, so much less settings etc. I am talking about a 850 pounds phone. At the moment, I am forcing myself to like it...

If you think iphone 7 is not selling as much as previous generations just because it doesn't have a deca-core cpu or 6 GB of ram, you might be wrong. High numbers of core and large amount of RAM doesn't mean a better hardware, and definetely it doesn't mean a better phone. Android requires a lot more resources because it runs on a virtual machine: every bit of information, not to mention interactions, must be translated before it goes to the hardware. It's funny to hear people mourning about the iPhone having only a dual core cpu when the most of them has a dual core cpu running smoothly their desktop PCs at home. Don't buy marketing gimmicks! iPhone 7 is not selling much just because it carries for the third year in a row the same "old" design. It'definetely not a problem of performance as the "poor" hardware is still top of the class both in benchmarks and in every day use. Anyway, I use iOS and Android as well.

Well, it doesn't take a genius to guess what's happening: the third consecutive year with the same design got people bored. I like the 6-6S-7 aesthetic, but it goes without saying: I'm waiting for a BIG change in design language. It must be evident to to guys at Apple also.

Its lack of innovation....over pricing....target segment is rich people...no extra features ....no expandable memory, bluetooth, very costly.....s7 edge is very beautiful less price...there is no difference between iPhone 6 or iPhone 7 only can and home button water resistant android phones offer this at very less price....their build quality is better than iPhone....I prefer s7edge 1080p screen amoled display its stunning beauty beast in specs....or oneplus3 or mate9 xioami mi note2 or mix....apple think every time high pricing strategy works..one day it falls like blackberry bye bye apple we can't afford more.. Don't cheat us...with avg specs

Not expensive (my opinion), price is high in comparison with other phones... But the issue is functionality.. iPhones lack that, ok I will buy a 256 gb.. But there are dozen of things I cn do on my s7 den on iPhone ... It's like buying a 30 inch waist Jean though I am 33 inch .. So it's tight and uncomfortable.. No freedom to sit and eat my heart out lol ..

RD, 26 Oct 2016The Main Cons Are 1- iphones are not dual sim specially ... moreSo I have just watch the news where this was mentioned and they had a clip with Tim Cook stating 1 biillion iPhones in total have been sold 1,000,000,000

Now considering there are SIX Billlion people on the planet and I have never ever bought one....well also the Apple watch numbers have dropped
Apple have promoted iphones as you must the latest, this is the best iPhone ever and many have bought into that even I can tell the lates iphone as now it is the colours they come with

Apple will bounce back when the iPhone 8 come out on the 10th anniversary, so this nay sayerr in 2016 will be eating humble pie in 2017 and here is why
Not upgrading for one year will hurt many, you ask them 2 years,
I am using a 2 year old phone
they may have held off bud sadly in 2017 any fall in 2016 will be wiped out in 2017

And yet Apple still have to INVENT and use memory expansion

People are now wise, they ship on midrange phone. Why to spent so much on non necessity feature on flagship. At the same time a lot of chinese brand with high specs but cheaper price.

they are still profitable but if this continue Tim Cook should start looking for a new job.

With the emergence of beastly smartphones that cost less than 400 dollars, category that's been so well represented this year, no wonder Apple is struggling to best itself. As for the yet-to-be-seen sales of the iPhone 7 duo, everybody I know would rather keep their 6s' and wait for next year, hoping that Apple will pull out all the stops for the 10th anniversary. I'm somewhat skeptical, seeing that we're talking about a company that doesn't agree using the broader spectrums of things such as Bluetooth & NFC, doesn't like granting access to system files but instead keeps pushing for users to sync with iTunes, still thinks mono audio while recording video is all the rage, still hasn't heard about wireless/fast charging. And now they've also gone and removed the headphone jack! It's understandable people want to live with one less of such foibles, so I don't blame them for sticking with their 6s'. Personally I think even a 6s would drive me bonkers, but I'd be willing to try it nonetheless. Tried Windows Phone for a while, loved it to bits, but the lack of my most used apps, including anything made by Google (or a worthy alternative) killed it for me. Currently using a Note 3. Would have liked to play with a Note 7 to see if it could have swayed my opinion towards it but it's no longer an option. My sister has an iPhone, so naturally I'm curious to see what's "corrupted" her loyalty to Android phones & if it's not a phase she'll get over later.

also the iphone 7 is probably better in every other everyday task plus it is not much more expensive and can be sold for a bit more than a penny in 2 years time.
