Anonymous, 28 Oct 2016How about they feature a slick and truly reliable OS instea... moreIts funny you being on here coming out with incredulous statements like that, the ONLY thing Samsung needs to do is keep a tighter hold of their source code, so that some impotent rival manufacturer can't steal it again to tamper with and blow up a few of their phones to stop their production in a desperate last ditch attempt to not become irrelevant. Will they try it again on othet Samsung products, we know its not a production issue, there are millions of phones, many still out there, and, they, are not blowing up, mmmmm pause, for thought, no android and its features are not Samsungs problem, they sell like hot cakes leaving apple and micri in the dust, nothing short of blowing THEM up is gonna stop them, mmmm, now theres an idea.

Anonymous, 28 Oct 2016How about they feature a slick and truly reliable OS instea... moreTotally, but if Samsung were to make their own OS, who will make apps for them? Considering most of the developers make apps first to iOS, then "port" to Android which some of the apps doesn't even run it natively but "emulate" them instead which causes major performance issues.

Android need to be remade, from scratch.

I know this joke has been made already somewhere down the line, but how about instead of slick design and better camera, people will get a better battery performance?

How about they feature a slick and truly reliable OS instead of the same old and buggy Android?

Nowadays Android lags far behind iOS and Windows in terms of user friendliness, performance, stability, user interface design and other areas like smart features that are actually useful.

I just hope that better camera means the rumored larger sensor that also has the resolution bump to 18mp. Do that while retaining the dual photo diode and gaining the rumored f1.4 lense and mobile cameras are getting somewhere.

So why should they stop camera advancements just because you want something different in the ui? Especially when there will probably be changes to the ui anyway????

Stop BS-ing people! Camera is already good enough. Make changes to UI first. Give in time updates. Do not paint metal frame around screen: it will come off sooner or later and seriously impact device resale value. Put strong glass which won't collect micro scratches after first week of use...

                        Removable battery or no dice.

                        I'm fed up now and so are my customers; you've got two choices;

                        Safer batteries with better capacity.
                        or
                        Removable batteries.

Or, I'm not buying one and I'm not going to sell them either.
I'll let them rot in the stock room and sell Alcatels and LGs instead.

slick design is girly no thanks

Anonymous, 28 Oct 2016Switch it off also can switch on remotely. that means the phone is not actually off (from infected firmware that makes the phone not actually turning off).

Other than that, no, it is not possible to magically turn on a phone remotely.

Removable battery or not, the thief can just switch the phone off. Done, no tracking possible. Heck, you don't even need to power the phone off. Just turn on airplane mode.

If you want to talk about liability, removable battery opens up problems with generic 3rd party batteries, where quality is questionable.

I hope this Note 7 fiasco teach Samsung a lesson that non-removable battery are not a good thing.

Ever since 'Find My Device' features are introduced to android and ios, removable battery are considered a liability. When your device is stolen it is possible to switch it on remotely and activate gps tracking in condition, the device battery is inside. But if the thief removed your battery then your phone is lost forever since your phone cannot be power on to track it. Thus, 'Find My Device' features would be stupidly useless and insecure isn't it if battery are removable. Iphone are perfect example for this reason.

Hopefully S8 will be a phone with a removeable battery like LG V20.
I hope Samsung will let its own staff to test the new model to address technical issues in the first place (before placing them on the shelfs). Customers are not beta testers for design mistakes. I guess Samsung learnt this lesson after losing billions and prestige.
