Vodafone UK puts a spell on HTC Magic, updates it to Froyo

15 December, 2010
Continued support from manufacturers for old Android devices has been a hot topic lately. So HTC is bound to win some good karma - they are updating Vodafone UK's HTC Magic droids with Froyo, not so long after...

Why cry about your precious updates? You were quite happy to get your phone with its installed version of the operating system when you bought it. LOL

Samsung better be taking note of this. I'm still waiting for Froyo for my Captivate which my terrible carrier, Riogers promised to be released on January 2011.

Alot of devices might be in for an upgrade...unless they have the sense UI or touchwiz..these cosmetic changes is what holds up updates..

Quite a surprise from HTC (Google has nothing to do with it). Probably before Hero and Wildfire cause it doesn't have the Sense UI. Or it was Vodafone that told HTC to upgrade it cause it is their phone?

b, 15 Dec 2010Magic gets froyo before wildfire... yeah ok, thanks a lot ... moreConsidering that the Magic is older than the Wildfire... Not too bad, I think.

It's nice that the Magic is getting an update but let's not forget about the other Android phones there that will be stuck in limbo...

Google should have been more farsighted and push updates to the user directly, like how Microsoft is going to do it with Windows Phone 7. I think I will be more confident getting a WP7 phone at this point rather than an Android. IMHO, if you want to get an Android phone AND you want your software updates, get a Nexus.

Wow, i really didn`t expect Htc to upgrade the Magic. Froyo !? that is really cool of them keeping in mind that it is a 1,5 year old phone. I would like to see other manufacturers doing this, mostly Samsung , they have a bad reputation when it comes to updating their phones.
