ZUK Edge spotted on TENAA with 5.5" dual-curved display

07 November 2016
A Snapdragon 821 paired to the 1080p screen should be pretty fast, but Android 6.0 is a drag.

AJ_74, 07 Nov 2016That doesn't change the fact that the functionality itself ... moreIt's not a 'false' feeling of coolness if it does look cool, and few would disagree, aesthetically the edge design does look a bit more blingy than the standard flat slab design. Having the screen warp right to the edge with almost no bezel does make other flat handsets look almost old fashioned. Now, if you're specifically talking about what practical value it adds, then yeah I'm with you - despite what anyone's marketing tells you, it's zero. But looking and feeling cool? There's nothing false about it.

Why couldn't they just make a bezelless ZUK to compete for Sharp's and Xiaomi's bezel wonder phones than the ever-growing saturation of edge phones in the current market? If I had to pick, I rather they saturate the market with bezelless designed phone than edged ones. Edge-designed phones are not any better with the easy-to-crack-on-drop argument either as the same argument could also get pitched to bezelles-designed phones

What is wrong with these Chinese manufacturers? First it was Huawei with their cutting-edge Mate 9 (Seriously? A 5.9" 1080P display?? In late 2016???), now Lenovo/Zuk with an edge-1080P display. You'd almost think there was someone out there dumb enough to buy these devices.

                                Oh, wait a minute...

Julliard, 07 Nov 2016Ever heard of Play Store? There are bunch of edge display a... moreThat doesn't change the fact that the functionality itself is a gimmick. You can perform the same "edge" actions on a flat display (just try Evie Launcher on the Play Store). Edge displays cause annoying warping and glare where they curve, and they make protective screen protectors and cases nigh impossible. The latter is particularly troublesome since edge glass is far more likely to crack when dropped on a hard surface.

The only advantage to an edge display is the false feeling of coolness it inspires in the ignorant masses.

Mumbai-Indians, 07 Nov 2016This will never go out of China. Still waiting for ZUK Z2 Pro.Zuk Z2 Pro was already out on south east asia. Indian here too and sadly, we're not there. My colleague bought his when he was in the Philippines. Dual sim flagship phones are present there too like the LG G5. I regret living in this 3rd world country 'cause OEM's think we can't afford real flagship phones. And it proves too since the best selling phones here for both xiaomi and samsung are mid rangers like the redmi series and samsung's A series. Not to mention Apple only send little stocks of their phones here, way less than most countries since it's not selling well in this 3rd world country.

Oh another Edge, well now we have a whole collection of Edges: the S6/S7, Note 7 (or it was), Vivo Xplay/Elite, Xiaomi Mi Note 2, the Huawei Mate 9 PD, Elephone S7 and now this. Well, generally speaking, its a good thing, and so well done to ZUK as well. But so now let's see what Samsung will gonna do for a WOW factor? Moreover if they will not gonna put a 4K display neither in the S8. Well, so what they will gonna do???????
