To be fair, Nokia has finally managed to create a phone with a better camera than a comparable P&S digicam. The software/UI could use some work, true, but the hardware is still better. But that's not really the same kind of evolution as the iPhone's reimagining of a touch-UI.
With the rise of 3D in cinemas and in the home, d'you reckon we might see a dual-camera phone that can take 3D video? Nintendo obviously thinks there's some value to this, with the 3DS...
ummm... maybe the PSPhone is the next step? Mobile gaming is a great market, and there have already been inroads for phones. Perhaps a phone that is truly equal to DS or PSP as a gaming device is the next big thing?
... tough to know, really! :--D

Image on the screen is the same that on the Galaxy S... same icons, same hour, same book... I think the image shown in the LG B and the Galaxy S is the same just photoshoped to dramatize the difference

But Apple has the OS and the apps that supports the retina display's resolution. What good is this LG's resolution if the android market does not support it?

Wow, impressive retina display on this LG device. But isn't this an android device? And how many android apps support this resolution? Lol. This is like having an awesome, top of the line snow mobile, but then you live in Hawaii, lol. Apple can boost the ip4's display resolution because they can easily make their apps compatible with the retina display's resolution. LG cannot pressure Samsung, Motorola, HTC, and the rest of other android adopters, and as well as google, to push android app developers to support this display resolution just because LG wants to impress. Good luck LG.

I can say only three words for lg droid 2x wow,wow,wow.screen is better than super amoled amazing.full hd 1080p amazing+4.0tft 8mpcam+android os upgradable to 2.3 gingerbread amazing+great design.lg is leading in features wise.surely it will b my ist lg awesome phone after samsung wave

Looks like new technology. And here's me whose worked with a (flexible) display production company in the past...
But as you say, TODAY's LCDs require a backlight. And that backlight SOURCE is usually a slab of white layer around the same size as the display panel, which can either light up or off consistantly across its entire surface. That link above suggests that the panel can detect a BLACK signal, and even go as far as turning off the light for those BLACK areas as required.
But people should know that's not the case today; for you to be able to see ANYTHING, a backlight is required.
And YES, you get zero WATTs when an IPS panel displays black, but only if the screen is completely BLACK with the backlight turned off. And what's the point in that? You won't be able to see anything in such a state if the display panel is displaying other colours rather than just BLACK.
