what people don't seem to realise is that apple is sort of app-stacks when counting apps
if you count each individual app on the store then apple's numbers are correct
if you group the apps by together by name (aka strip out app version) the number drops significantly
why does apple count the same app on 2 different version numbers as 2 different apps?
because when you download an app you download a specific version
apple keeps that version available in case you want to download it again
this is regardless of whether every single user of that app upgraded to the new version
so if there's an app with 50 version updates since it was launched, Joe sees that as 1 app, apple sees it as 50 (which is hence the number apple reports)
that number has significantly since they iphone4 & ipad came out
mostly because devs had to make a new version to support the different resolutions

then look at real world usage and see just how many people have bought a case to wrap their phone in
in particular with v4 due to both sides effectively being glass coated plastic being extreme finger print magnets
so many cases are either rubber / metal shells that ruin the original look of the phone
yeah... just look at the iphone
it's like picking up that really hot girl you saw at the party
only to find she wears a balaclava and cardigan most of the time

most idrones will complain that lg is coping apples iphone 4 display with this as after all steve jobs invented the retina display and his extreme knowledge has deemed that the iphone 4s screen is indeed beyond the pixel density that an eye can possible see despite large evidence to the contrary. This new lg screen here is adding further momentum to what will be a comprehensive market take over for free source and android!

I dont know why many ppl say that iOs is better because of the number of apps available, i mean, Android market has more than 100k apps, and as far as i understand 100k is not a small number, and above all, more than 60% of that content is free, and just 25% in the Apple side, Android market is growing faster than App Store, i think it will be bigger by 2012

they have CBD-AMOLED which is a victory in direct sunlight viewing, they're recovering very fast in the high-end smartphones arena.

I am impressed with recent launches .. seems like they have been investing in R&D for some time .. if 2010 was year for Samsung to dominate i believe LG will jump in 2011 .. hope this competition gets us better fone at better price :)

Good job building a screen! Now all they have to do is built a phone that matters. A different animal. Cause since iPhone, none has brought to the market the next big thing. Koreans don't seem to be up for the task either. Not enough imagination. They just keep increasing the specs not bringing anything new at the experience.
So who's gonna do it?
Htc maybe? Nokia? Apple?
I'd put my money to Apple. Then Nokia.
