Sounds selfish at first, but Google has a point. In order to for USB-C to minimize the mess, vendors should adhere to the USB spec to maximize compatibility with external peripherals. External devices use the USB spec anyway.

QC 4.0 will still make its way to SD830. After that, Qualcomm might need to either negotiate or switch to PD.

Yes! It's time to have USB-C connector AND USB power delivery as ONE STANDARD.
QC QuickCharge did its job, that's to be appreciated, but it's time is over.
now it's time to start using USB Power Delivery.

viveksubhash, 11 Nov 2016Wait so usb pd is better than qualcomm quickcharge? Isnt it... moreQualcomm QuickCharge (or any other rapid charging methods) is not spec compliant to the USB-C standard. Accidents can happen.

Anonymous, 11 Nov 2016yes and the dial up inernet are better than broadband.
... moreYour comment and analogy makes no sense.
There is no need for USB C if MicroUSB is working perfectly. If you want a reversible connector, search for this in google: micro usb reversible

Anonymous, 11 Nov 2016Shame! Sounds like current OnePlus phones won't then be upg... moreActually, OnePlus seems closest to be compliant, since their DASH doesn't increase voltage, it increases the current. So it's more or less what's USB Power Delivery is about, only with different cable.

I've used the Oneplus3 dash charge technology and it is as advertised... charges your phone quick without any heat buildup... how can we have innovation like that if all the charging technologies become uniform?
