Google Nexus One getting Gingerbread in a few weeks

21 December, 2010
It should come as no surprise that the Google Nexus One will be updated to Android 2.3 Gingerbread - it's one of the advantages of getting a Google-branded phone. We didn't know when to expect the update though...

I love my N1 and agree it's the BEST phone on the market. Got update a week or so ago. But, I am now 2.2.1 ( Gingerbread I'd 2.3)
Hope the new update comes thru soon!!!!

            Droids are not for everyone.
Those of you who bought one and got frustrated over its futures might as well reconsider getting something that suits them.
All I wanna say is i'm glad that the N1 is getting the gingerbread update. I've had my N1 for 10 months. Battery life is not so good, so i changed it to a 1600mA and set it to 2G only, it works well. never bothered rooting. I prefer the original google package and services.

upset - then don't buy a phone at all: to compare with my Nikon DSLR, ANY phony have crappy camera.

If you're looking to take high quality pictures... buy a camera, not a phone! And if you're wanting to make calls on the go, buy a phone, not a camera. Basic logic!

Don't know what all the fuss is about.
As an I9000 owner i got caught up in the hype for 2.2 Froyo and was underwhelmed when it finally arrived a couple of month late.
Would prefer more background changes to improve battery life and power management than cosmetic changes to how apps are accessed.
Ill happily plod along with Froyo as the phone does everything i want and more, although i do feel the phone hangs more since the update even if the battery is marginally better but part of that could be me being more savy with the phone

jenson, 21 Dec 2010Don't blame Google. HTC sees the Nexus 1 as a fail to them,... moreHTC only manufacture the Nexus One for Google and it is up to Google to market and distribute them. All support for Nexus One is through Google, not HTC. Hence stock Android OS and updates only come with this phone, as it will be with Nexus S.

HTC have its own Desire which is a carbon copy of Nexus One hardware-term, and have support directly from HTC and its Sense make-over software. Hence it's no suprise HTC market Desire instead of Nexus One and is available more widely than the Nexus One

If you guys wanted update so desperately, root your phones and you will always get your latest updated rom from custom rom developed by programmers. Rather than waiting and being jealous of phones getting update that fast.

The nexus series is definately getting the updates first where android is concerned.
