The reason is simple. iPhone doesn't have any competitive advantage over Android anymore because they are practically the same. Moreover, the novelty has worn off and Apple is unable to invent a single successful product after Steve Jobs passed away so they just milk what was left.

Even though iOS is my chosen OS I will not defend it saying it is the best & every Android owner sucks, it is practical for my needs & I do prefer that handset having all the memory rather than forking out for an SD card (like I have for my G5 as I will be using as my daily driver just to see how I get on). SD cards have an advantage, yes as you can swap out the card for different things, impractical as you can easily lose a card or get the card corrupted.

There isn't perfect smartphone, it's all about chosing right trade-off.

This same Applies to everything, cars, motorcycles etc. you just need to decide and test which suits to your needs.

It's so stupid to year after year to read from these android boys how no-one can't buy iPhone because it's a great product, it is as good or better or worse than any android device, it depends what your needs are. the fact is that hundreds of millions of People like iPhone and what it offers, why android users so much try to deny that?

People will still buy iPhones for one pure reason, the fact they have invested in so much money to make things work with their iPhone, the Apps they brought & the fact they are use to iOS with the imperfections that it has.

At the end of the day there is no right or wrong answer to which is better. There are Android handsets I like, I work in a phone shop where I set up many different types from a very cheap Alcatel handset to S7e & I still prefer my iPhone. I got my G5 as it was cheap & I need a second handset for work.

The thing that I hate about this forum is that there is only a handful of people who think like this whilst all the others are iSheep or Fandroids trying to defend why their chosen brand of OS is better.

My opinion is that there has never been a perfect OS, even back in the day of the Blackberry 8110 (my most favourite handset of all time) or Symbian. Every OS has it flaws but it is how you use it & workaround the flaws that matters.

Your right that the price of the iPhone is ridiculously high & it is one thing that has always got me but when you see & feel the build quality (not talking about the screen as I know that the screen is getting a little old now compared to others) it really is second to none. I happy to spend that little extra to get a decent looking phone that is built like an iPhone that pay less for a cheaper clone.

Anyway, the cost of building a 256GB iPhone 7+ is what, around £200/£250? They make a tidy profit on the handsets they sell.

And how this is related to iPhone? :)

Apple is exactly company who can satisfy the wants and needs of consumers. It's unbeliavable that iPhone with that price being one of the most expensive phones in the market can sell tens of millions every q, No-one can't get even close.

I can see this company coming to an end if this trend continues. A company that cannot satisfy the wants and needs of consumers has no place in the market. Einstein said "Things should be kept simple, but no simpler." The removal of the headphone jack, the messed up MacBook line-ups and other gimmicks feel very similar to the Apple before 1997 whereby the company has no clue about the customer's demand. GGWP?

Apple took away the headphone jack for business/ financial reasons and mask it with "this is the future" reason. Apple will make a big fuss/ big deal about BEATS wireless headphones starting next year. Trust me. That "b" logo for beats will be in your face again through repetitive advertising in TV, online, in-app, billboards, and magazines everywhere.

Even gsmarena will probably cover numerous articles about BEATS next year.

This is why Apple bought BEATS for Sinful amount of money and havent heard much of it yet from apple, because they are waiting for the removal of 3.5 jack first, and give users "adjusting" time/ period first without headphone jack.

Insofar, Apple has just tested the "market" with the nicki minaj advert of BEATS, analysing feedback and reactions. BUT trust me, Apple will be licking that "b" logo in the future.

Who said less people are buying iPhone 7? cirp released data last night and it said iPhone 7 selling better than 6s in first month. also if the sales are down is the fact that for most of people current phones are so good already that you really have to ask do i need better one.

"Apple's Q1 2017 is not gonna be big as you are thinking. They want the Amoled higher resolution, edge screen. Apple is holding on, and people can see that, so they wait, hold on to their money."

according to Apple they are expecting record quarter, when Apple has been wrong about their own estimate numbers? also about higher res amoled res isn't reason which many cares, only very few tech people. iPhone screen is already very very good and the screen is not the problem. Problem is that no-one in smartphone industry currently can't develop that must have feature which would make people upgrade their almost perfect phones already.

Luckily Apple have very very big loyal userbase so every year Apple going to get big sales even from them alone.

These Chinese brands are getting better (only lacking in the software side for now, is what's saving Apple from a bigger decline in sales). This can't be denied, it's a fact they're catching up.

Why do you think less people are buying the 7? As the article mentions, from the 6S to the 7, it was a slight update only, same design etc the only thing worth is the dual camera (which is only available in the Plus by the way...nice play Apple).

It means, people (apple fans et al) look not only to iOS. Apple is not only about software.
And if Android catches up some day, what would be their excuse? Google already went with the Pixel to have a better control of the integration hardware/software. Apple is gonna lay there, quiet, resting on their laurels? Oh look, we have new emojis and animations says Tim...wow! Good grief...

Apple's Q1 2017 is not gonna be big as you are thinking. People will wait for the iPhone8 even more, the true update. Let's be honest, iPhone is getting boring every year, no major improvements. I have Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and my brother has iPhone 7 Plus. I would still choose my S7 Edge any time. The elegant design, camera, functionality of my Samsung is way better. My brother regrets buying same old iPhone 7 Plus which is almost the same as 6s Plus.

You seem to be in the habit of making ridiculous statements. IOS's share of the smartphone marketplace is falling in a market that is growing. With effectively only to operating systems in the market this can only mean the net effect of new users and existing users are choosing Android. Maybe 18% switched Android to IOS (which I very much doubt) but a greater % must have gone to Android from IOS or new users chose Android at a far greater rate.
