Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play leaks again, confirms Gingerbread

Games is what will make or break this device. Not specs. I have a Sony PSP since Jun 2005 and started playing it like crazy again. This is the 1000 fat model. I just busted out 50 HOURS playing FFVII for the third time in my life and just recently beat the Sonic games from the Sega Genesis compilation. All downloads. I just bought a Photofast card that converts to a memory stick pro duo, but carries dual micro-sd cards. I now have 32GB to store multiple games including plenty of PS1 classics. Imagine, 5 1/2 years later and I still play the underappreciated PSP? If this Xperia Play can provide me with downloadable 16-bit/32-bit compilations and the controls are comfortable, I could be one happy customer. Sega Genesis and Sony PlayStation (1) are two of my favorite consoles ever. Media Go is excellent for organizing stuff for your Sony gadgets. Not as good as organizing as iTunes or as beautiful as the Zune software, but still way better than Double Twist.

processing power is not that important. quantity, quality and support for the games is the more critical aspects.

I'm really liking the look of this phone. Onscreen keyboards are good enough now that full-QWERTY hardware isn't really that appealing. Sony is one of the big players in portable gaming already, and this is an ideal fusion of the console and smartphone.
As for hardware critics - get a grip. Compare the hardware specs of PSP to any flagship smartphone (yes, even Nokia :--P) and it's clear that this device has more than enough juice for the job. It's just a matter of getting the software out there.

They have been bashed for their cameras on phones and in reallity my 3.2mpx SE K810i beats the crap out my nokia N97 carl zeiss 5mpx (ruined by excessive jpg compression) or my friends 5mpx samsung and Lg much more modern.
So stop being so «geeky» and complaining about phone that are great but you never even worked with.
You are very right sony knows what they are doing and what a phone should be: a phone first and seconda it can be a walkman, cam, gaming station etc. Not a swiss Knife wannna be that doesn't do crap.

This phone will be a run-away hit. Reason--its different amidst the smartphones crowd. And it will definitely appeals n lure some section of the buyers, if not all. And if i am not wrong, be it a small section though, that will yet be good enough to make it a BIG HIT.

At the end of a day a phone is a phone, no matter what hardware, software or any other little perks, as long as it calls and texts it will be a dedicated phone, the N8 is a camera phone, not a "power phone" and the galaxy is a internet phone, more based around social networking. Its hard to see what you class as a power phone. This phone will appeal to a wide range of people, but more inportantly the gaming comunity. At the moment the handset with the most amount of games is the iphone, purely because it is so popular. If sony can get developers to make games that shame some of the things that they can do with the iphone, then there on to a winner! I say good luck sony.

Yes, finally a phone with dedicated gaming buttons! Street fighter series game, no all fighting games will be fun and platform games like mario and metroid will be slot easier and fun to play now!
